Copied from realgm.com "As an AsianAmerican I am a big fan of Yao Ming. I see a player with amazing skills for his size, and unheard of potential. That being said I don't think Yao Ming will ever live up to his potential or ever be as a good basketball player as he can be(Although he still will be a dam good player). I say this because during the summer, when players are suppose to work on there game and hit the gym, Yao has to instead go back to China and play for the Chinesse National team. This of season alone I have read he has to play in the Asain Championships. Alot of NBA players complained about the Basketball World Championship Games and how fatigued they were during the regular season because they never had time to rest. Well that wasn't even 15 games, he has to play 40 games. Look at the end of this season, Yao started to fade away and blamed fatigue. Well how is he suppose to rest for next season with his crazy schedule. Also alot of people say he will get better once he hits the weight room and adds on some muscle. Once again most player do most of there heaviest weight training in the off season how is he suppose to add muscle if he doesn't have time to hit the gym in the off sesason or doesn't even have time to rest. Finally the off season is the time Yao is suppse to sharpen his basketball skills, but without any free time that is going to be impossible"
sun...if i was yao i wud do same thin he dis..go bck to his country and play over there with his ppl...and his gonna hav time to build up muscle when he come bck and take his rest then...and gain weight....
The Asian Championships can't possibly be 40 games. There probably arent even more then 5-6 teams in that stinkin tournament.
I did not write that piece, just copied from realgm's houston board. I think the guy has a point though.
Apart from playing against Korea, Yao won't play much minutes if at all in the tournament. And there is NO WAY the team needs to play 40 games. -G'day-
wasnt this issue already solved? i believe i read an article in which yao went to the coach of his team and asked for permission to follow the rockets off season weight training program/diet. also, the statement about the asian games.....there may be 40 games in TOTAL, at most each team will play 3-6 games. the tournement is only a week long....
well since it's the rockets training program i expect it will be suited for the nba. however, maybe the rox are just really big asian bball championship fans and it will be suited for the ABC.
I thought there was another article where Yao said he didn't have time to lift weights because he was practicing all the time. If this is true, it would be bad news. Yao must lift weights. Also, I don't know what the training regimen is but he also needs to significantly improve his stamina. That is the bigger concern.
Maybe he does have a little bit of a stamina problem, but it is natural to be tired after playing basketball games on an almost every other day schedule for like over a year (I have no idea how long he did actually play but i know it was for a damn long time. At least 120 games straight, besides the small break he got making the transition to the nba).
Enlighten me. Why exactly do we care what an anonomys poster on another bulletin board has to say about Yao and his potential? How exactly is this any more worthy of note than anything we say here and why even bother copying it here in the first place? I don't get it.
I get it. Pretty much all of suns12 complaints(and posts) about Yao have been about this subject.. He found someone that agrees with him so he wants to remind everyone, again, why Yao isn't going to be great. I think that about covers it.
I just hate Yao for whatever reason. Don't need anything prove my point. period. dot dot... but have to create a thread every month or so.
