After a little chat with Houston GM Carrol Dawson, Yao Ming has made the decision to dunk when he dons a Rockets uniform. Over in China, dunking is seen as impolite, while in America you get booed when you’re over 6'2" and you make a lay-up. Says Dawson, "I told him that you've got to dunk in America or you'll get your shot blocked, and he said he's looking forward to it." Is'nt that hilarous? I did'nt even know that it was an issue. However, I am happy that it is resolved so that Yao can throw some mean ones this coming season and not get his shots blocked.
It's hard for me to think that a7'6'' man who can shoot all over the court getting his shot blocked.( Do you remember when Hakeem blocked Jabbar's Sky Hook?) Akeem was the only one able to do that I'm sure!

I've heard that too, but I've seen Ming dunk in video before. I've even seen one sweet reverse dunk where he spun baseline on someone.

ming seems eager to do whatever the coaching staff (and cd) want him to do. he has the work ethic to become great. he has the skills to become great. al that is missing is some experience.
I think Ming should try to dunk more often. He towers over most of the players in nba. He is the talliest after shawn bradley.
I saw Yao Ming in a whole game today, 2 years ago. He's no stick. If he has bulked up reasonably since 2000, then he will be very very good. He CAN establish a place in teh post. One problem though. Sean Marks blocked his shot. It seems he'll have to adjust to taller players for a while. Practicing against Shotblocker-supreme Eddie Griffin will fix him up in no time.
Yo itr would be tite to see Yao do the dunk Carter did at dat one Dunk Competeition. When i dont remeber who bounced it and then Carter took it threw the legs and dunk it. that dunk wass baddd ass
