This is what it basically came down to. Yao had 36/10 in extended playtime, since Bateer is having medical issues. I watched some of it, he hit a three... but also missed a dunk. http://sports.sina.com.cn/k/2004-07-14/2338997842.shtml you can watch the grainy video from above too. i'm not sure it's really worth it, but I've always kind of wanted to watch the Chinese NT. If you understand Chinese... the commentators this time are actually quite good. Also it's really funny because the audio stream is really close to the court, so you can hear what the players are saying, esp. the Canadian players, lol. China won 76-72. I think Harris was a little disappointed. From what I saw, their problem is: -- perimeter defense lacking, Canada hit some threes -- guards not getting back in transition D -- guards don't respond will to pressure defense Anyway, Yao's getting hack a yao'd like crazy... wow. Almost as bad as hack a Shaq, except it doesn't work because Yao always hits free throws. I also like Li Nan. He's a poor man's Peja, haha.
Just scrub Canada, the Canadian center looks strangly like that Anderson dude in Denver. He sucked though.

Denham Brown of Toronto led Canada (1-3) with 14 points while James Gillingham of Guelph, Ont., added 10. China (4-0) held a 37-8 advantage in free-throw attempts. "I don't want to talk about the discrepancy on the number of free throws attempted or that all of our post players fouled out," said Canadian head coach Jay Triano. "I would rather talk about how well our players competed under difficult circumstances. "We played the game at our tempo and competed extremely well against the host country as they prepare for the Olympic Games (news - web sites). In the end Yao Ming was the player that we were unable to control." Canada next faces Croatia on Thursday before wrapping up the event Friday against Brazil. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Yao fouled out all their big men!
Yeah, he's definitely got the trunk. Now if only he could learn how to effectively back that thang up.
Its probable the ligaments ect. that can not keep up with the constant motion and pounding. Most huge men have many injuries. Hopefully he is portecting himself. Especially with having to play all year round.
Yao gets every call, so does the rest of the china team. Yao does the same power spin move then w/ his elbow on the other guys shoulder creates contact misses the shot but they call the foul every time. he still has problems w/ catching entry passes when tired, and he missed a dunk, but overall u can tell hes not trying hard.
