    From ESPN rox message board:

"Yao has the longest active free throws made streak in the NBA, that is
amazing. Not only is it not owned by a player like Peja or Nash, it is a 7-6
center who owns it. That is purly amazing"

    It's only for active players.

Here is the all-time NBA record.

    Most consecutive free throws made
    97-Micheal Williams, Minnesota, March 24-November 9, 1993

Not trying to jinx Yao, but 97 is very unlikely, but 30 in a row is amazing, let along for a guy his size! Go Yao, Go Rocks!!!

    -G'day-

Refs will have to start calling alot more fouls in Yao's favor for him to get to 90 this season.

Doesn't really matter if the streak breaks, what this tells us is that teams can't hack Yao because he'll make them pay.

I wonder how a well-rested Yao would play. The guy amazes me.

if he makes 98 this season, that means we're the 2004 NBA Champion.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it probably means the longest CURRENT streak of any player. Surely a couple of active players have hit 30 or more in a row at some point in their careers -- Reggie Miller or Steven Nash maybe?

I agree. I think you have the correct understanding of "the longest active free throws made streak".
