I just thought I would point out that Yao Ming is really having a quality month. The guy is just about averaging what most of us would be happy with through out his career.

His averages in December are 20.9 ppg, 10.7 rpg and 1.6 bpg

I think most of us would be happy if he could sustain that through out the regular season. I think what most of us really want is to see Yao be consistently aggressive.

IMO the true test of how far Yao Ming has come as a player will come in March and April.

edited with the correct PPG. Thanks DD

its hard to judge right now. we have only played bad teams this month. and we will only play other bad ones 'till january.

he does seem much more aggressive, but he is playing smaller guys now. i need to see more to be convinced.

He is at 19pts for the whole year, now we need to get him to 10rbs a game for the year and we are golden.

Doesn't he usually turn it on in Dec? That's at least what I recall.

Enjoyed your enthusiasm, but Yao has averaged 20.9 ppg in Dec. instead of 19 ppg. 19 ppg is his season average so far.

Just a quick calculation using excel spreadsheet and you will see your mistake.

    Not true.

At Dallas Yao had 13pts and 14 rebounds. He fouled out but it was still a double double on the road where we lost in OT.

Vs. San Antonio Yao had 27 pts and 10 rebounds and single handedly kept the Rockets in the game until T-Mac took over in the last minute

Certainly we want to see more consistency and only time will tell.

Last season he turned it on since early Feb. This year he turned it on two months ahead of schedule.

    December through 9 games: 20.9pts 10.7rbs

We can only hope for more of the same...

That was two seasons ago. His rookie year, he had his best stretch of games from Dec. to Jan.

Last season, he began to have it going against KG at home in early Feb. He was able to perform at a high level for 2 months before regressing in April.

Yep, we had a string of easy games, we'll see if Yao can keep it up.

I'm telling ya, the reason Yao turned it on early was cuz that African American lady bought him lunch and showed faith in him. We need to start a ClutchBBS fund to randomly buy Yao lunch when he leasts expects it. Then he'll perform like this for the rest of the year. ;) Random acts of kindness and positive reenforcement I tell ya. Much better for one's motivation than having a little dictator cursing at you in the locker room.

I am just a little worried that this uptempo style of game will wear out Yao in the regular season. We need a fresh Yao Ming in the playoff. By the way, do you guys think Yao's stamina has improved this season? Did he still huff and puff on the court in the last few games?

Up tempo is less taxing on the body then Grind it out.

You don't fight for position near as much which helps keep the body fresh.

It is no coincidence that Yao is suddenly finishing games strong, he is fresher because he is not battling down low near as much in this new tempo.
