from the Chinese national team. I know what a honor it is to play for your country and Yao is the biggest sports hero in China, (so I hear). He's made his commitments every year and I think he should play in the Olympics this year too. But no one's body can take the pounding of professional athletics without an offseason to rest. That is a medical fact and his injuries every year bear this out. So after this year, he should just retire from the national team, with great honor I might add, and concentrate on the Rockets. The Rockets are the ones paying him all that money and the Rockets are reason for a lot of his internationalo fame too. We want to win an NBA title and I know he does too, but unless he amkes 100% commitment to the NBA, I just don't see it happening. Anybody agree? Comments?
Sorry, but it is great pride for one to play for his country. By the way, if Yao Ming is not playing for China, I don't know what is keeping the peace between USA and China.
I can understand how important it is for him to play for the Chinese National Team...he is by far their best player. I think he needs to choose one or the other because his body can't handle playing most of the year. I hope he plays well in the Olympics and then focuses on his NBA career
Now that our season is over, I am looking forward to the Olympics and rooting for China, Argentina and USA...... And maybe a little for Greece and Slovenia. DD
I knew something was wrong after reading the thread title and seeing there were no "1 star" on the side of this thread. I don't like being mislead.
Look, as much as I'd love for Yao to have a whole summer off, he's already said more than once that playing for China is more important than playing for the Rockets. And that's not a bad thing. It'd be selfish of me to say he shouldn't represent his homeland. I just with more American players shared Yao's point of view.
Wow dude, somebody better delete this post before the race issue starts. Clutch, moderators, please delete this post!!
He needs to play for the team that is paying him. He is bound to hurt his feet. The human body is not designed to support a 325 pound guy running up and down the floor.
umm.no. first- yao will not give up playing for his country just for nba/rockets. sure he might love the rockets and wants to win so bad, but he loves his country more (you can see from what he says)
The sad part is that Yao is going to play for both teams until he can no longer physically stand without assistance.
Money can't buy anything. Grow the F up. Rox management already had that in mind when they decided to bring him over.
