"Whether it's skill or following the game plan, I think it's how much you want to play defense," Rockets center Yao Ming said. "We need to communicate and talk to each other on the court. We didn't do that much of that, and we need to do more so that we're clear about who to guard and who's got the next guy and who's going to help. Also, who's going to help your man." The Mavericks, San Antonio Spurs, and Phoenix Suns have shot 254-of-528 against the Rockets in seven games this season, connecting at a 48.1 percent clip. "Our defense is not where it needs to be when we play the top teams," Rockets guard Tracy McGrady said. "Until we realize that, we're going to be an inconsistent ballclub." I can't believe I'm hearing this from a team that's played under JVG for years. He leaves and they forget how to play D. They need to stop thinking about playing D and just play D already.
A trade anytime soon, I don't believe the Rocket's will make trade. They might by the trading deadline but by then all maybe lost in regards to making the playoffs. I am still am hopefull that something may be done to help the team out but I just dont' see what can help the Rockets out.
Sounds like Rick's defensive game plan, if there is one, is awful. I want to give Rick a chance but these comments make him look bad. It seems like Yao is trying to be the coach of the team sometimes.
Adelman doesn't seem to hold anyone accountable for turnovers or poor defense. (Yes, I realize we had another coach who was notorious for that.)
