http://sports.sina.com.cn/k/p/2004-09-16/10351150094.shtml The reporter talked to Yao after Rocked exercised the 4th year option. I don't have time to translate the entire article, just some highlights here: ---Yao said his signing with Rockets was not for money. He won't forget what Rockets have done for him. He'll continue to play in Huston unless something unexpected happens. ---The repoter mentioned Yao said he wanted to play in big cities before he came to Huston. But after the one year in Huston, he'd choose Huston without hesitation. He's happy in Huston and he thinks Rockets is good for his development. ---Yao has been training with Falsone and he'll be to USA on 19th.
Good news...I never thought that he would go anywhere else. as a "Senior Member" you should at least know that it is spelled HOUSTON
what is he talking about "wanting to play in big cities?" houston is the 4 biggest city in the nation. and its houston not huston
What's this mean, Houston is the 4th largest city in the US. Is this reporter or Yao not aware of that fact?
thats bullsh!t. carlos boozer said the same thing in cleveland and look what happened? i wouldnt be surprised if yao signs with the knick. he even said in his book that he would love to play in new york.
Just found out somebody already has this article translated in another thread. Please lock this one. Thanks. http://bbs2.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?s=&threadid=83853
I think we are all pretty aware that Yao's loyalty won't bend for money as Boozer's did. Unless someone assaults Yao's mom or something, or somehow disrespects Yaoin a big way, he'll be a Rocket. And maybe the reporter meant "bigger city" meaning a more marketable and recognizable city like Los Angeles, New York, Boston or a city like that... maybe... Stuart
At the risk of being flamed, i want to note that Houston has the 10th largest Metro area in the US, so there are 10 teams playing in markets larger than ours.
Houston may be number 4 here, but you do understand that the rest of the world has cities too? Yao previously expressed his like for the size of Shanghai ... around 20 million.
Yao is such a punk. I can't believe he would diss the city of Houston like that. If that's the way he sees the city of the team that drafted him, he can take his pansy Rik Smits game elsewhere.
I wonder which U.S. city they'll move to? This was the best chance for a pathetic organization like the Warriors. (Ok, I'm being boastful since we're keeping our Yao.)
if he dissed houston, which he didn't, it clearly states he wanted a big city BEFORE he ever came here. so really since he just said he wants to remain a rocket what exactly are yall getting angry about?
