I just got to see footage of Yao practicing at Westside on the local CBS newscast. I am sure people in Houston will be able to see some practice footage of Yao in action this evening. Yao looked to be very active, running up & down the court and showing some post-up moves.
This may mean he can see some action either Wed. or Thurs. night. He must have gotten some rest he looked exhausted last night on TV. So much for jet lag-
I guess his "Tee time" for today was rained out. That's ok, I would rather he started practing with the team anyways!!
Hmm...the fact that "most" players don't take Keith Jones instructions on stretching seriously makes me think that any injury problems we might have might not necessarily be on his head. Way to go, Yao. You rule. On a side note, kudos to Yao for practicing today. I just had two good friends come back from China recently, and the jet lag alone did them in for a couple days. It would not have surprised me if Yao had just sat out for a while and gotten his internal clock back on schedule.
If you travel often, like a professional basketball player would, you don't get jetlag. I've flew on flights that were > 13 hours and was fine afterwards. The key is to try to sleep as much as you can on a flight. I especially like the take off. I envision it as sleeping on a massage bed
You mean you weren't invited to the official Yao piss test party? Oh man, it was great...although not many people drank the lemon-lime flavored punch for some reason...
Yao just looks like a player that is intelligent and can pick up things quick. His face always looks focused and serious. Last nite at the game, i saw him react to every play and was in the huddle at every timeout. It's almost like he was thinking how could help his team. He doesn't seem like a type of rookie that will have the "deer in headlights" when he plays.
I don't know... I hear that from people now and then, but it just doesn't work for me. I fly between China/US around 2-4 times per year, and every time I'm floored for at least 3 days (as in, I collapse in the early evening), and often up to a week. This last trip, I slept almost the entire way (staying up clubbing the previous night helped)... and it still didn't do much good for me by the time 5 PM rolled around.
Let the man rest as long as he wants, until the games start to count. I'm excited to hear what the players say after practicing with YM today. I'm glad they all appeared to be excited he's here.
Boy was that a real practice where he was on the floor with Wink and Mobley running up and down? or was he shooting in a corner and riding the bike?
This may be a wierd question, but should Yao even HAVE jet lag. I mean, tired from the plane trip and the lack of sleep is understandable, but usually lag comes from being thrown out of your normal time. Isn't the time in Shanghai relatively close to ours just a day ahead? It could be that his normal time is only off from ours by a couple of hours, right? If you've ever had jet lag, you know that the problem is getting re-adjusted or adjusted to the time zone. If you are suddenly 6 hours ahead, you have to get used to going to sleep at what would be 6pm for your body clock even though the time where you are is midnight. For Yao, if his time is relatively close to ours (just off by a day), he might not have jef lag like we think of it.
So one day has 48 hours since China is at the another side of globe? 13 hours difference form China to Houston.
