AUBURN HILLS, Mich. — Rockets center Yao Ming will be held out of tonight’s game against the Detroit Pistons as a precautionary measure two days after he bruised his right knee in a collision with the Indiana Pacers’ Danny Granger. Yao was in the visitors’ locker room in The Palace of Auburn Hills and preparing to begin warm-ups that he had hoped would clear him to play when he was told that he should change back into his street clothes. With the Rockets playing Monday in New York, the Rockets thought the game Sunday and flight to New York would lead to too much swelling to play on Monday, so they chose to have him play in the second game of the back-to-back. He is listed as day-to-day. Sunday’s was the second game Yao has missed this season. The Rockets have had their preferred rotation healthy and available for just two games this season. Both Tracy McGrady and Ron Artest will play against the Pistons. "You think you’re getting close (to being at full strength), just getting these two guys (McGrady and Artest) back, and then Yao goes down," Rockets coach Rick Adelman said. "It seems to be the way it’s gone this year. I couldn’t believe it, to tell you the truth." http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/sports/6229767.html
well at least TMac and Ron are playing. Poor Yao, we'll get him back next game. and it'll one of the only times with all our players, except Luther. Finally.
Smart move for Yao. I forgot this was a back to back. I hope Deke goes off tonight and Rick realizes that he can use him more (or at all for that matter).
Very good move by RA and company to hold Yao out, u gotta be cautious with him this season, losses now are alot worse than losses in April/May
TMac probably won't drop ridiculous numbers, but I hope he does play with energy. He can easily drop 25 + if he just plays hard. Ron will play tough, hit open 3's and bully his defender. It sucks that Yao is out but its probably for the best. Hope he feels better soon!
Great find, thanks! So this means tomorrow's game will potentially have the big 3 for the first time in a while.
Artest and T-mac will be solid, but if someone is looking for the dropping 40 points T-mac on his first night they have a very good chance of being disappointed.
