    Who would you rather have for this team and the future?

    I didn't put this in the GARM thread because I would get bashed for being a Yao-hater, which I am not.

    But I thought it would be interesting which #1 overall (or potential) pick you would want now that we've seen what they can do.

    Obviously a lot will go into choosing a franchise player. While I figure that Howard once he matures probably will put up better numbers than Yao will and okafor may turn out to be the next elton brand there is one major team that any smart GM/Ownership will see that only Yao will bring. That is the $$$. Yao's impact in terms of merchandising and revenue alone makes him the obvious choice for any team, even if they dont succeed on the court as the team they (ownership) still will have fat wallets which I truly think most owners are after. Profitable teams rather than winning teams.

    Post this after a loss, and I guarantee people would pick Pavel Podunski over Yao Ming.

    I would take Yao even Howard may have better numbers when he was fully developed.

    IMHO, the front court with Yao and a decent PF will be more effective than that with Howard with a decent center (Is it possible to find one with reasonable price these days??)

    It will be much easier to find a good defensive PF through FA or draft than to find a good center.

    Just my 2 cents.

    I would take my TEAMMATES, MY LOCAL SPORTS PLAYERS (except Scottie Pippen), over anybody else.

    DUDE, what makes you start these threads to think about comparing your team's players? Why don't you cheer for YAO to get better if you don't like how he plays?

    What the hell are you talking about?

    I'm just wondering how other people feel about Howard/Okafor compared to Yao. The rookies have played extremely well for their teams this season, some wouldn't say the same thing for Yao, not me though.

    Who said anything about not cheering for Yao or not liking how he plays?

    You may take your Local Players before anyone else, but there are some who wouldn't. Would you pick Yao over Garnett?

    On my sig, are you saying I'm right? Or are you dissagreeing? :cool:
