After reading the multitude of threads, especially those by new posters I am seeing frustration on all sides. Many new members have joined Clutchcity because of Yao Ming, and as Rocket fans we love new fans and we obviously love Yao Ming. Most of us older members have been bleeding Rocket Red for a decade or more. We were frustrated with the early 90's Rockets and then felt joy for our championship runs. We then followed this team to its current state regardless of the players or their record. But I am getting SICK and TIRED of seeing posters constantly state that Yao is not involved in the offense and we need to trade him somewhere that he will Succeed. Don't get me wrong, Yao is now my favorite NBA player (current player, my favorite all time is of course Hakeem The DREAM!). But I don't care if he doesn't get 20-10, as long as we win! I don't care about his glory, but the winnings of the team. Those that keep talking about how he would flourish other places are not Rocket fans. I'm sure I will still be following the Rockets after this group as I followed it when most the current players were in High School. I think this team has some amazing pieces and it will take time for them to mesh. If management decides to trade Yao, Francis and Mobley because they feel it will bring us closer to a championship then I am 100% for it. But lets cut the crap about Yao's numbers versus actually winnings games! Some of these trades are simply to place Yao in a place that he may prosper more! Like Denver/Golden State etc.. FORGET IT!! It ain't happenin!
Khan: Take it easy. Remember there were some posters from Memphis after the Posey deal? and some Celtic fans during the Cat-Battie/E-Will trade? I found their posts entertaining rather than annoying, although they didn't root for the rockets for sure. If you treat a Yao-only fan like you treat a Kings fan, or a Lakers fan, will it be easier? Some so-called yao only fans on this board are not Rockets fans and they would admit that. Is the clutchcity open to them? Let's leave the question to Clutch and his crew. However, what I want to point out is many posters from China are not able to watch as many games as you can. They got some wrong impressions about the game from the sucky media whose reports are sometimes biased and stupid. I think they would love more "court-side observation" threads, maybe from you.
I find them annoying because I see myself too often lumped in with them . I love the Rockets. I also think that the only hope of real success (read: not just making the playoffs) is with Yao as the centerpiece of the team, and Steve and Cat accepting that. If we could trade Yao for Duncan tomorrow, I'd want us to do that. But right now, I think he's our best option. Unfortunately, I find this usually means arguing against "Rockets fans" with the YoF.
I find the multitude of people whining about YoF or labeling and dsmissing people as YoF with very little to back it up more annoying than the YoF themselves.
I could not agree more. This team, once it gets it together , is going to be a menace. They already play decent defense and the offense is just in a slump. Both will get better over time. Patience is the word for now...
Welcome to this week's Yao Only Fan bashing thread. If you like what you see, refer to the one from last week and the week before that and the week before that, etc. Extra points will be awarded for self aggrandizing pomposity in proclaiming oneself as a true Rockets fan above all "bleeding Rocket Red" and dedicated to expelling ignorant Yao-only fans and foreigners from the forum through intimidation and the constant posting of new anti-fan threads ad nauseam until the forum is returned to its former glory when everyone posted intelligent, witty, balanced and concise observations of the team's activities and there were no such thing as biased, hateful, ignorant or stupid posts at all. Winners of the Yao Only Fan bashing award will be awarded Rose-tinted glasses and a signed Strom Thurmond photograph by Clutch upon completion of mission and be celebrated as a true hero by all forum members.
It could be argued after watching the last three games they already are a menace - to themselves. I agree, it can ONLY get better. I can't imagine them playing much worse. Hopefully it will start tonight. They should be well rested....
Actually, the only thing worse than a thread bashing yao only threads is a thread that bashes a thread...I mean the only thing worse than a Yao only thread.... Wait a minute. Let me start again. The only thing worse than a Yao only thread is a thread bashing a thread that is bashing a Yao only... Aw, to hell with it! This is too confusing!
I guess the F.D. Khan dude really doesn't know who else to bash(Yao-bashed, Steve-he loves, CAT-bashed, Moochie-bashed, etc.), but he feels the urge to bash. So he picked the YOF. I guess next time he will have to bash himself! The thread title would be "F.D. Khan Sucks big time!"
Yao only bashers not wanted either. Thank god for the ignore feature. Heck have the people here are on my ignore list now, which shows how bad the Yao only bashers have made this board cause it used to be great.
Howabout a Amaechi Only Fans Not Wanted Thread I'm really getting tired of those Amaechi only fans demanding that we should trade Yao and Cato so he can get some playing time or that we should trade Amaechi to a team that will appreciate his skills.
Khan, you are too sensitive. I think some of the trade talks were caused by frustration. Also, you see more complants about Yao's not involved in offense after a loss than after a win. This means fans care about whether the team wins or loses, at least more than you think. It is also a fact that when Yao does well on offense, we have a better chance to win, so there is nothing wrong with saying "get him involved".
You know, if there was a sticky all these bashing threads(steve sucks, Yao sucks, YOF sucks, Rockets offense sucks, etc.), we can pretty much eliminate new threads all together.
If we didn't have YoF's then our road attendence wouldn't be near 4th best. I bet there are more than a few SF only fans around the country too, or he wouldn't be in so many ads. What's the problem?
