After the 32 pts 13 reb game, Yao is officially in the 20-10 club checking in at 20.77 pts (810 pts) and 10 reb (390) per game. ;)

Puts him in a list with only KG and Marion. This is Yao's break through year.

The thing I'm most impressed with is not so much the numbers, but how Yao is playing. He's putting on an absolute clinic out there. Guard him one-on-one and he gets a good shot every single time. They weren't falling in the first half, but all of Yao's shots were good ones that he's going to make more often than not. When they came with the double-team, Yao made the right pass. He found a cutter, or a jump-shooter, or passed it out for a re-post. It is a thing of beauty watching him operate in the post.

The only thing that can stop Yao is to deny him the ball. That's up to JVG and the entire team to figure out ways to get it to Yao down low. Because if he gets the ball within 10 feet, it's all over.

i thought he would have a bad night after only 10 points in the first half. and at one point i heard bill worell said he was 2 for 12 and i didn't expect to see him produce much. i hope t-mac's back is ok though. he would have about 30 points if he were still in the game!

At times I have been so frustrated with Ming, he was so often tenative, unaggressive, indecisive. He would get stripped, fall down, in essence look weak and confused. I knew he could do so much better, the Dallas game his rookie year showed me that. His one or two outstanding performances a season showed me that. But most of the time he loafed or seemed to. Now I am starting to see what I always expected of him. He is bringing it night after night. He is decisive, aggressive, confident. I am very proud of him. He must continue this progress and he will achieve greatness.

I love Head & Wesley but in the past few games, they kept ignoring Yao when we were leading by a good margin (especially in the 4th) only to go back to him when we trail the opponent. JVG should do something about it!

Back to the subject, I think Yao has progressed nicely. Most people on this board would never expect Yao to be a 20/10 player. and that would be his peak  Yet he still has room for improvements :)

ESPN 2004- Yao Ming is a bust, he should be averaging at least 20 and 10 to be deserving of the #1 draft pick.

ESPN 2006-Yao Ming is a bust, at his height, he should be averaging 26 13 and 4 like all the other 7'6 centers before him.

Nope, Rik Smits was never even close

His best year for rebounding was 7.7rpg

    and

His best year for scoring was 18.5 ppg.

Yao is WAY better than Smits.

    WAY BETTER !

Rik only dreamed of being a 20 & 10 player. His best average is 18.5 pts per game and 7.7 reb per game (they are not in the same season).

With his improved game smarts, and his aggressiveness. I feel that the refs are starting to treat him better, and send him to the line more, and call those phantom fouls on him less. This could be a very exciting season, if Rockets can move forward and get into the playoff with Yao's incredible improvement.

We've said a lot of times that one moment could be his turning point. But we are disappointed again and again, and got encouraged again and again. Hopefully, this time is for real, that big toe surgery IS Yao's turning point.
