    Other nominees for Eastern and Western Conference Players of the Week were Chicago’s Marcus Fizer and Jalen Rose, Houston’s Yao Ming, Miami’s Eddie Jones, Minnesota’s Kevin Garnett, Phoenix’s Shawn Marion and Washington’s Michael Jordan.

    I think this is Yao's second. Not bad for a rookie. Has any other rookie been nominated this season?

    No other rookie has been nominated so far this season. And yes, this is Yao's second nomination.

    Anyone think Yao will actually 'be' the player of the week (not just nominations) before the end of the season? I think he has got a good chance

    I would not choose to buy your idea about Yao's being awarded the player of the week in this season.... That demands fabulous and consistent performance in the whole week.... Yao is good, but he is just a rookie. Don't overlook this fact.

    Good news for him and for Rockets fans...i think he has a good chance to win it before the end of the year...

    BTW, wasn't NBA.com supposed to put out updated All Star results every week ?

    why can't Yao be player of the week? Steve was POTW when he was a rookie. It is possible. It just takes 2 or 3 good games.
