A person of his size and talent should be going to line about 6-9 times a night.

Yeah, I think one of the problems is that he's too quick to settle for an outside jumper instead of banging & drawing some contact inside.

Lately, he's been more inclined to finesse a jumper or pass the ball out than muscle his way inside.

Yes he does....but he gets bumped all the time and does not get the calls.

Early on he was getting them, but not lately.

Hopefully the calls will come later. Kobe gets foul calls while shooting jumpshots if his shoelaces graze the defender.

    Don't forget Shaq...

All he does is lower his head and shoulder and push his way and gets the call...Unbelievable...

It's because Yao is going away from contact when he shoots his turnaround J.

I'd like to see Yao go to the basket more often, but it's unfeasible for him to do that until he adds more strength, agility, and better ball handling.

The guys who go to the FT line are the ones who attack the basket. David Robinson would shoot 10 FTs a game from his penetrations from the elbow.

At this time, If I were the coach, I will come out NOT in the games, but during after-game interviews, before-game interviews, say:

"It is curious that our big man is not getting calls as much as the other team's big man. Maybe they are calling it differently that I do not see."

As a coach, it is a mind game to the referees. All games are played on the court and OFF THE COURT. I nevered heard Rudy T. complained about the referees. He has the prestige to do that, but choose not to do it. On the other hand, P. Jackson constantly used the mind-game to play the referees, and that's why Lakers get all the calls they want and Jackson won 9 championships. It is not a coincidence.

By the way, Lakers won last year. The #1 reason is P. Jackson. Without P. Jackson, the Lakers won't win it against the Kings.
Rick Adelman has coached the Portland Trailblazers in their peak years, he went to the NBA final twice and never won. He has a better Kings team last year, he did not win. That's his failure.

I wonder if Mark Cuban's intelligent comment that Yao was getting calls like a 30 years veteran has anything to do with it.
