OK, before you guys stone/lynch/burn me here(Clutch, don't ban me yet please), let me first say I love Dynasty to death, and I'll give a shot at explaining why I am writing this. Yao hasn't taken a break from basketball for over two years, and that's bad for any athletes. The Chinese NT will demand him to play for them right after this NBA season, and Yao will miss another chance to rest his over-worked body. I China, the players are considered old once they reach their 30s, and this is primarily caused by lack of maintainance of the athelets body. Your body is like a machine, and overworking it will cause it break down eventually. As a Rockets fan, I am really worried that the future of our franchise will become a injury prone and have a short and tragic career. YAO NEEDS A BREAK! Since the Chinese NT isn't smart enough to save him from overuse, and it's impossible for the Rockets not to use him during the regular season (none of the players on the team will be happy to see someone gets special treatment for free vacasion, just because he's the #1 pick, and that's gonna create chemistry problems), the only way for Yao to take a rest is to... ROLL HIS ANKLE, and nurture it for three weeks. Make sure the sprain isn't serious to cause long-term problems, and don't do anything other than light load weight training during the rest. When his ankle is recovered, Yao will be as fresh as ever, and continues the double-double streak. This is the only way left I can find for him to find time to rest the first time in 2 years.
Yao Ming played in a few tournaments before the season started, getting injured isn't going to help him and I wouldn't panic about him needing rest. The amount of time he has played isn't any different then the Olympic guys. He played in the Olympics, and some of the NBA guys played in the Olympics. He played in an Asian tournament, meanwhile the preseason was going on. He returns for the start of the season, he's played about as much basketball as anybody who has been on the Olympics team.
Ive heard it all. Have Yao intentionally hurt himself so he can rest. We forget, Rudy is never opposed to putting players on the IR with non-legit injuries (flantar fasciatis anyone?). If Yao was that exhausted, Im sure Rudy will drop his minutes a little or indeed put him on the IR with a fake injury. No need to have him intentionally hurt himself.
He doesn't need to be really injured to be rested a game or two when the Rockets have a light schedule. For example he could miss the Jan 4th game against GS and would have 6 days off. Or the Feb 14th game against Miami and get 5 days rest. He could just get a DNP-Flu.
He's 22 years old, not 40. A rest would be nice, but not necessary. Creative thinking, but not all wise either.
Too late.. Why start a freakin thread like this? Seriously, you don't wish an injury on your freakin #1 draft pick. Go to the clutchcity feedback forum and read the stupid post threads. People are sick of them.
