During today's game, Van and Bill mentioned a few times that Yao and Mutombo were scrimmaging each other the morning of the Portland game. Van Gundy supposedly had them work each other out for about 45 minutes, really going at each other. They credited that practice to the production of the 2 centers in tonight's game. I'm sure it's beneficial, but if it keeps these 2 sharp and on their toes, then props to JVG for doing so. Yao had a sub par game the night before, but did well tonight. Hopefully these 2 can stay aggressive from practicing against each other.
Let them scrimmage before every game: 34 pts, 17 rebs and 4 blocks Nothing wrong with a two headed center.
I just hope mount mutombo doesn't run out of gas at the end of the playoffs. If he still has something left in the tank by playoff time then he can help us even more since the games are more halfcourt rather then up and down.
The significance might just be the fact that it was the morning of a game, between back-to-backs. It may have just been the only time that Van and Bill witnessed it.
if anybody can show yao how to be tuff, iam sure motombo can.I noticed he battled hard in the paint tonight and made sure he caught the ball.I was impressed.
Sad thing is, KG, duncan, shaq, and now Amare would put up those numbers alone... But hey, that's why this is a team game
Just give me the big W. And Yao canscore like that tonight, but the fouls kept him off the court. He gets no respect from the refs. -- droxford
I wonder how many of Yao's shots got swatted? Motumbo may be just what Yao needed to finally figure this game out. Ewing was a decent defender, but Motumbo has always been one of those pesky defenders that will not go away. Practicing against him would make anybody's game better.
