I read a Chinese article. Yao mum says she feels her son is too tired after playing games without a break for a long time. She worries about his health.

Maybe he's staying up too late playing video games. It happens to me at times...:D Since Boki isn't expecting to play, he doesn't mind keeping Yao up for "one more game"..

Just a joke of course. ;)

......actually, it must be pretty hard to lug around a pair of 100lb legs. He's a BIG guy after all.

He is tired of stupid guard-oriented play.

mom knows best, we should sit him down for a game or two and let his body recuperate. He's not NBA ready yet. I think we need to think long term here. The kid is going to want to play, but we need to be smart about not letting him. A couple days rest will rejuvenate him. do him good.

We have pushed him pretty far pretty quickly. Maybe now is a good time to step back a bit.

The problem is that he has been playing basketball for two years in a roll without the benefit of summer rest. Maybe Shaq can take it?

We have a couple of games at home against Center-less teams comin up. Maybe we can let him play limited minutes.

Like if he averages 20mins/game in the next 5.

I, personally, would put him on the IR for 5 games just so he's not exhausted.

I think he needs to sit for at least 4 games to get his breather going for the second half...good idea. I think he really needs a short rest.

He doesn't look too tired on the floor.

If it starts to affect his play, then think about giving him a rest. But don't rest him because "logic says he needs rest for playing this long". Some players are different than others. Let his play, and what he tells the coaching staff, dictate his time on the floor.

He is still human, and has pulled a big playing year...Rest will help the team and him, but I respect your view.

Sure, but playing basketball is a full-time job. If you have a full-time job and you work two years continuously without taking a break, don't you like to have a two-week vacation to go to the beach and replenish your energy? Well, our president even takes one-month summer vacation every year.

bben212:- Exactly my thaught! I dont think Rudy T has control of his Team. The Guards are great at times but they make so many stupid mistakes, when they attempt tp do too much. This was again a very sefish Game with much of the old Dribble mania. When is this Team going to learn how to play Team Basketball?

Gary Payton is like 32, is athletic as a horse and is annually one of the top players with minutes played.

Some people are built for it; others are just human.

People are built differently. It also depends on culture and country. Some labors in China might envy Yao's workload. There was a famous long distance running team called Ma Jia Jun in China whose members ran like 20 miles every day, and they were all women!

Well, let's face it, you do need some weeks off after the season. I don't know if Gary Payton wants to play Olympics and World Championships two years in a row and plus the NBA regular seasons and playoffs. If he does, he might just be an injury-to happen.

Investment bankers and consultants work a lot of long hours. Many of them take two weeks off during the summer, still got burned out after two years. They end up leaving the company.

Terrell Davis was a work horse in Denver. He got so many carries during Denver's championship years. People said he carried too much at that time. See what happened now? He blew off his knees, got fractures, eventually retired after only 5 or 6 years?

Why take the risk if you can take some time off? It is just unfortunate Yao has not rested for two years.

The probability of getting injuried when you are tired is much higher than that when you are fresh. There are 10 years ahead of Yao Ming, why rush now? After all, I do not see Houston wins the championship this year. If you do not win the championship, enter the playoff as a high seed or a low seed, what's the difference? You might even pick a better draft with a low seed.

I remembered Pat Riley said: there are only two results in NBA, championship or misery. We are going to be in misery, take it easy!

It would be nice if, for the last 5 games before the All Star break, he got 5 games of no more than 20 minutes, and as little as 10 minutes when we see we're effective without him. Then he only has the All Star weekend off (barring a small appearance in either the rookie game or the All STar game itself).

That would give him a nice breather, without affecting our record.

He doesn't ask to rest, that's the problem. I specifically remember Rudy saying that he plays until he's TAKEN out. That's not good for a big guy. For a big guy plus 6 inches, that's pleasantly horrific.
