If anyone knows it would be the cc.net sleuths. Just before Yao arrived here in Houston, his mother was here looking for homes etc. It was believed that she would remain in the US for the year. Is she still here in Houston? Does she travel with Yao? How long will she be here?
The announcers said before the Pheonix game that she had just left for China and that Yao hadn't figured out where he was going to be eating yet. Though the ESPN announcers also can't tell Moochie Norris and Terence Morris apart, so take it for what it is worth.
Really... the game-plan, as far as I know, was always that his father would leave early (about now), while his mom would stay the entire season. It's possible she just got home-sick... but I can't imagine she'd leave her son behind if she could possibly avoid it. I'll take a look at what's goin' on in the Chinese media.
I had heard all along that the father had left to go back to China. His mom would remain in Houston for the remainder of the season.
I think if his mom indeed went back to China, it is because of her visa problem. She can only stay here for three months if she holds a B-visa. It seems that B-visa can't be renewed without leaving this country, I might be wrong on this though. Shrimpie
The guy is 21. He probably told his mom to go home so that he can play video games, drink, and have sex.
Nothing wrong with that! sex could make you more smarter, and more confident. He needs to grow up, not to depent on his parent. I know that's very normal for asian (depending on parent), but Ming is in NBA now (real men sport) ps. by the way i like the way he dunks the ball, keep them coming Ming......and please Ming, do not listen to Back street boys
Chinese Cafe is quasi authentic Chinese food. You guys should try Jade Village for Cantonese cuisine (harwin and gessner) or Papa Chang's for some authentic Taiwanese and Cantonese stuff (Bellaire, between Ranchester and Corporate, in the Diho shopping strip).
There is this one restaurant on westhimer i think that actually serve fairly authentic Shanghai cuisines, which i would guess is the type of food his mom cooks for him.
God, I can't wait to come to Houston! I am a Shanghaiese too, in the ****ing cold snowy Montreal. Anyway, I can watch Yao's game in the bar and have my favorite hot chicken wings, ahhaah! About asisans, don't get me wrong, the new generation is not so dependant on parents. As far as I know, Yao Mom is quite worry about Yao's first year in US, that is why she insists coming here to accompany him, I bet Yao would rather live along, hang out with teammates (if he wants), play video game (I bet he ranks among TOP 10 in NBA gamers), and do some man's job.
Montreal might be cold but Canada do have the best Chinese food outside of the eastern hemisphere, I actually can't wait to go to Canada.
