I am not sure if anybody had post this interview comment.
Right after the lakers game. Worrell and Murphy had an interview with Yao. Worrell asked Yao something like this: "We know that you are aware Charles's comments about what he would do if you could score 19 pts in a game. Now you scored 20 pts, would you like to say something to Charles?"
Yao said through Mr. Pine: "he was just joking".
Want a classy answer from just a rookie kid.

    ...Yao was just hoping. :)

Seriously, it was a very classy response. I like Yao.

I can't stand Murph as a commentator but I love how considerate he is being to Yao. I think he is just too old and senile to be effective as a commentator but he is a nice guy. I like his last comment where he told Yao he was proud of him. What a special moment.:)

I love Murph as the commentator, too bad I don't live in HOuston area, directv is always showing the other team's commentator... which makes the game so much less entertaining.

I think it was sort of a slight insult to Yao by the way some people talk to him in interviews. Murphy for example asked Colin the question instead of Yao as if he wasn't even there. He should ask Yao directly and let Yao get the interpretation.

Not a big deal but something Murphy and others should be aware of.

Those of us who have to watch on league pass get to see everyone elses commentators, IMHO Murph and Bill are the absolute best, (I may be slightly biased).
I think Yao Ming will represent the Rockets well in every way.....he has lots of class.

Insult? They were praising him left and right. It's natural reaction when there is a translator involved. You tend to talk to the guy that speaks your language. I really would not see it as an insult.

I have been listening to Murph and Worrell for more than 12 years. I love Bill, but over the years, especially since he made it into the hall, Calvin spends more time talking about himself as a player than he does commentating on the game. He tries to relate every play to something that happened to him. There are ex players like Bill Walton, who accomplished vastly more than Calvin did, and who very rarely relate every detail of a game to their past careers. I have to listen to the games on mute with the radio on.

Likewise. I not only think Calvin Murphy is a moron, but I really enjoy listening to Gene Peterson say "TWO MORE!!!!" as well as Gene's opinions regarding the referees.

I like Bill and Calvin. They are very entertaining and they make a good team. I would rather have them talk about the game than other commentators.

I don't know if any of you saw it but on ESPN's Outside the Lines show they were talking about interpreters in the NBA and how to handle players, particularly Nene Hilario. It seems that the Nugs are forcing Nene to do things without an interpreter to learn English and our culture more quickly. Maybe Yao Ming should get some practice using English the next time he's with Bill and Calvin, no pressure there and it would be good for him. We don't want him too tied to an interpreter.

I like Bill and Calvin too. They may not be perfect, but whenever I hear most other teams commentators it makes me really appreciate our guys.

I don't think that Calvin constantly talks about the old days, and the times he does are fine with me. I like hearing stories about Rudy T and other former Rockets.

But for radio it's always good to hear "How sweet it is!". I think we are blessed with both radio and tv commentators that have "personality".

    I wouldn't trade'm for anybody else I've heard.

I've always liked Bill and Calvin. They're entertaining, and mix that entertainment with a good commentary on the actual game. I hate watching with any other commentators, they suck. I watched the Phoenix game without our guys, and I couldn't help but feel that they did a poor job keeping you up on the game. They were commenting on actions from 2 plays gone past...

Yao is a good guy, and I like him too. He's not some punk kid with arrogance and attitude. Maybe he reflects his culture in that aspect. If so, I give the Chinese props in that dept.

bill and calvin are great if you are a rockets fan and thats why i love them. but gene peterson sucks...every other sentence when the rockets are on defense is "travelling but they missed it" it is so damn annoying. obviously if it was travelling it would be called more often wouldnt it now?

Calvin and Bill are the best. Not only are they good for some laughs, but I also think that they are very knowledgeable of the game.

Better Bill and Calvin than that ESPN crew.

Although I did like the way the film crew shot the game, much better cameras used than ch51 film crew.

Please tell me that you're not comparing Walton's commentary skills to Calvin's. I realize that Calvin can get a little off topic sometimes, but he's a decent commentator, and I don't see how you can't like him as a Rockets fan. I'd much rather hear Calvin than that old nagging Bill Walton.

It was pretty exciting to hear Bill and Calvin cheer for joy when Yao made his 19th point LOL

Bill and Calvin are easily the best duo on the air. Not only does Calvin bring the credentials and knowledge to the viewers but he brings a sense of humor as well. He can critisize and spread praise with conviction because he has been in the trenches. I think they compliment each other very well compared to the many other hacks out there who are just downright boring.

Walton is five times the commentator that Murph is, but he isn't as good as Worrell. If I have to hear about Murphs long socks one more time I am going to vomit. It is like he forgets that he tells that story every game.

Petersen is extremely biased, but at least he doesn't talk about himself constantly. I think it is hilarious the way he is always second guessing the refs. It is like listening to one of my highschool basketball teammates watching the game and telling me what is happening on their cell phones.
