That's pretty late, isn't it? I thought the Asian Games went into the Rocket's preseason. Well, as long as he's signed, I guess its ok.

(Hmm.. will he still be in all the new basketball games?)

W&S, could you give some more details on this based on what you've heard in China? I can't read that link. Are they worried that Yao will do the same as Wang?

    This is not acceptable.

    They surely know that.

Why does Chinese media continute to bash Wang by saying he is causing Yao griefs

A Chinese reporter interviewed the GM of Shanghai Sharks, Li Yaomin. Li said the contract of Ming will be delayed to October because of Wang Zhizhi. Before Rockets signs Ming, they have to sign the formal transaction agreement with Sharks. But Sharks hasn't received any such notification yet. Because of the absence of Wang, China only finished 12th at WBC. The attitude of CBA became blurry now. CBA will solve their issue with Wang first. Ming has to wait until the end of Asian Games.

:( It is very sad how the Chinese government will allow a player such as Yao to be used as a pawn in the CBA's pissing contest with Wang. I will be glad when Yao signs his contract and is out of that represive system.

    Gosh,

Kind of makes you understand why Wang is doing what he is doing, doesn't it.

I would not worry, Yao will get here, and we hold his rights FOREVER !!!

    :D

What kind of trade are they talking about? The Rockets can't trade any players to the Shanghai Sharks in exchange for Ming this would be against NBA rules. What will happen if the CBA can't solve their problems with Wang?

So basically all our efforts (sending Goldberg over to China numerous times to hammer out a deal) mean nothing because of Wang's decision to train in the US this summer. These are two different situations, why are the Rockets and Yao being punished for this? Communism sucks.

It's not "trade" but "transaction" about of Ming (from Sharks to Rockets).

Either China wants him to play in the NBA or they don't. It's true, there are no guarentee's that Yao won't do the same thing once he is on American soil that Wang did.

They have to weigh whether letting Yao become a great player in the NBA and thus reflecting well on the Chinese people is enough compensation for them. That plus the money they will get the first year. If they back out now then David Stern will have to make it clear that China will be cut off from NBA games and merchandise indefinately.

Don't worry. Ming said before that if he cannot play NBA this year he will retire. CBA will not take that risk.

instead of All for One and One for all, it is All for China and One for China.

China holds his rights forever, not the Rockets !

Yep sure the Chinese government would let him do that....please. This is one of the reasons why you don't burn a #1 overall on Yao. Too much outside involvement. Better hope he defects before his rookie contract is up.

This is totally expected. CBA or Chinese govt, what the difference anyway, wants to see how the NBA will handle Wang situation. Their objective is to hinder Wang signing up with other teams in the NBA. This is how the communist Chinese likes to do things. To them, everything is like a chess game, a mind game. They like to do things covertly. Its always so much politics, quid pro quo, saving faces etc.. But I m not worry. Whatever the outcome on Wang's situation, Yao WILL sign with the Rox eventually cuz the Chinese would lose much more if they dont.

:D Should have posted this weeks ago. I would have looked so smart.
