Yao just has a chat at Sohu.com. It is pretty long. Hope somebody will translate it.

    I like this question.

Q: Who is the most handsome guy in NBA?

Yao: There are many different types of good-looking. Nowitzki looks like a rock star. Glen Rice has very beautiful eyes. Chirs Webber and Jordan are handsome too.

Q: I heard that the GM of Warriors wants to sign you at 2006 by all means. Have ever you thought about leaving Houston?

Yao: Now I am very happy at Houston.

He said Colin will stay another year with him.

I guess Ming meant Dirk looks like Mick Jagger. That makes sense, but I dont understand why Jagger is "good looking"

I know that when Jagger was younger, many, many women would(and did) gladly jump on Mick.

personally, I think he looks goofy, just like Dirk. ;)

Well, he did mention in the interview that he was very sure that Rockets will be in the playoffs next year. How can he be so sure? Ready to be the man, Yao?

are you guys intentionally ignoring my plea for a translation, or are you just too lazy to do it? picking parts of the article out as "interesting" when you know damn well most of us cannot read it does no good for the majority of the bbs.

    someone please translate.

    Somebody PLEASE translate this interview!

But from the little Chinese I can read,

Yao love meat, can't stand a vegetarian diet:p

He is SURE the Rockets will be in the playoffs this upcoming season (how can he be sure? hmm...but that's he said)

He will come back to US in the month of October (not very specific huh)

He thinks that the Mavs (?) and Lakers have the best chance at the Championship this upcoming season.

First a caution, I have a hard time understanding simplified Chinese. But I will do the best I can.

The following is the first one (probably total of five parts) part and if somebody wants to continue, be my guest.

    Audience: How is your health?
Ming: Health check up did not indicate any problem. It is caused by been too tired.

Audience: Are you going to play at Tai-Yuan (spelling?)?
Ming: Yes, but the actual on-court time will be limited.

Audience: With you been so tired lately, hope you would cut down on social activities.
Ming: I will try, but sometimes it is not up to me.

    Audience: How do you recover?
Ming: (don’t know how to translate it)

Audience: Do you eat all non-meat food recently?
Ming: I sure ate a lot of those.

Audience: How does it felt to be a vegetarian?
Ming: Hard to get used to for someone like me who like to eat meat.

Audience: Are you confident of the forth-coming Asian Cup?
Ming: Very confidant we will get the gold.

Audience: When do you think you get be a NBA champion?
Ming: Hard to tell, but next season we will make the playoff.

Audience: Will Wong Zhi-Zhi (spelling?) play in the upcoming game?
Ming: I hope so, we are still trying to get him here.

Host: You have more recent news on Wong?
    Ming: No, I don’t.

Host: When will you go back to US?
    Ming: October.

Audience: Korea has a very good center who played very well in the World Youth Tournament, what is your strategy against him?
Ming: Never play him before. Just have to see.

part 2 (more parts to come):

    Audience: (Can’t understand the question)
Ming: Well be better when my eye-braw grows back.

    Audience: How tall are you?
Ming: 2.26 m with shoes and 2.23 without. My shoe size is 52.

Audience: How did the contract negotiation with Nike go?
    Ming: Very well, still on-going.

Host: You didn’t have shoes when you were young, did you mother get you a pair ofNike shoes?
Ming: My first pair is Adidas.

Audience: Is it too much competition recently?
Ming: Yes, I think so. Some of the energy that shall be used for the Asian Tournament was spent on the preliminaries.

Host: Would you in contact with your NBA coaches recently?
    Ming: No, not recently.

Host: What happened when your weight coach came to see you?
Ming: He came giving me guidance on my cholesterol level and my weight. There is also a letter from the head coach. I am 9 pounds over-weight.

Audience: A lot of NBA players have bad reputation like Kobe, what is your secret? (Note: really bad translation)
Ming: No secret, just different hobby. Sometimes, American and Chinese have different interpretation of morality (Again, very very bad translation on my part).

Audience: You been participated in a lot of commercial activities, is that against what you like?
Ming: I am afraid the answer is yes.

    Host: What do you prefer?
Ming: More discipline. At least during this summer, I wished I can have some time for myself every night and more time for rest.

Audience: How are you with Steve Francis?
    Ming: Very good.

    Host: Any cultural difference?
Ming: We (I think he mean Steve and him) revolve around the same culture, the basketball culture.

Keep up the good work tie22fighter. Excellent.

Yao is officially on a path to John Williams/Mel Turpin type stardom. ;)
