Rudy Tomjanovich won two championship titles playing INSIDE-OUT. Yao Ming is supposed to become the next superstar and the best center in the NBA. But currently, he is only getting 9 touches per game. He is #4 in the entire league in field goal percentage. What is wrong here? Do the Rockets have too many players who go from outside to the inside? We need to give it to Yao. We need to find a way to get it to him...Everyone is saying this...
yao is just not strong enough or physical enough to play inside yet. it wont be happening with yao this year. he needs more muscle.
I'm not sure if that's all the reason. My opinion is that Yao is still learning the NBA game, adjusting, and trying to be more comfortable. He has shown in several occasions against tough opponents that he can dominate. That's why I'm not sure if Yao is not strong/physical enough. As part of his development, no doubt he will encounter problems here and there. His most recent problem is losing his shooting touch which may be due to coach designing new plays or new shots for him. But still.... ideally he should shoot more (around 15 attempts, but who actually counts). If the team is truly commited to play INSIDE-out, they should start NOW, not waiting for the summer.
