Yesterday, China held the first news conference at Busan. The leader of Chinese delegation answered some questions. When he was asked about Yao Ming and his contract, he said CBA's attitude to this case is very positive and they are going through the procedures now. Beat him at what?? An arm wrestling contest? Did Li Nan have better stats than Yao at the world games (?) or is he simply succeeding Yao as the major representative of Chinese Basketball? Mnay people thought Ming would be the standard-bearer of China. I just don't know why they chose Li Nan. A few things needed to mention. "two days" in Chinese means "a few days". Ming did say in his interview that he will not stay at China too long. He accepted an interview of a Korean TV station in ENGLISH. (Yes, from beginning to the end)

A believe it till you see it. With no disrespect to wind and sea, China has given us nothing but all talk and no action. Anyone else getting tired of hearing he will sign soon?...Show us the mighty pen! Hypathetically what if Ming does not sign and we do not get him?....could this be a ploy as an attempt to trade him to another team?.Is this possible?
The leader of Chinese delegation said that they used two index to choose the standard-bearer: height and image. I don't think Li nan (#10)'s "image" is better. So the only reason is Ming's height. Or they just want Ming to know that they can control him in all aspects.?
I hate to tell you this but it is very possible. If Ming does not sign with the Rockets and this does discourage them they can indeed trade their #1 pick. Could it be China really wanted Ming in NY?

"Things concerning Yao's play in the NBA will be made clear after the Asian Games," said Li Furong, deputy chef-de-mission of the Chinese Asian Games delegation, at a press conference here Sunday morning. The 2.26-meter Yao, who was picked by the Houston Rockets in June's NBA Draft, has yet to sign his NBA contract, awaiting greenlight from the CBA. Li, also deputy director of the State General Administration ofSports, guaranteed that China's first NBA player Wang Zhizhi's absence from the national team would not put Yao's NBA future in jeopardy. "Wang's issue with the Chinese team will not affect Yao's NBA future," Li told reporters. Wang, who joined the Dallas Mavericks in April 2001 as the first Chinese player in the NBA, did not take part in the recent world championship and the Asian Games with China. The rift between Wang and Chinese basketball authorities occurred when Wang refused to report back to national team training. Earlier, the CBA suggested a written agreement by the Rockets on Yao's national duty. "We wanted to make sure that Yao would be available to play forChina when needed," said CBA secretary general Xin Lancheng in June. How is this news or any news any different from anything we've heard? The Rockets have said all along that it would be a long negotiation and it would take time. No one expected Yao in Houston prior to the end of the Asian games. Most folks thought he would get here a week before the start of the regular season. All we have heard is speculation and nothing else. This is what we know... <i>The Rockets and delegation from China and the CBA are working dillegently to settle any outstanding issues, Yao's agents and the Rockets are negotiating his contract and he should be here after the Asian Games but prior to the start of the season...</i> That is absolutely NO different than what we heard a month ago. I don't know why everyone is all worked up over news that sounds exactly the same this week as last week and the week before that and the week before that...

Li Nan is definitely NOT a pretty guy. He looks like a cave man! I can't believe Yao won't be the standard bearer. On a side note, that guy guarding Li Nan has one HUGE FREAKIN' LEG!
