He did not specificly say words like that, but it is obvious he is determiend to do so...

BTW, Yao always said he does not care about other people's opinion. But he seems to really take it to his heart of being called "soft" and put his spin to it.

Well, he is well ahead of schedule on his comeback trail. He has left Shanghai and arrived into Beijing to rejoin the national team on July 1. He will not immediately rejoin the team practice of the national team, but continue his restoration training on his own. David Macha will soon turn him over to Anthony Falsone to help him retrun to competive shape and form.

According to what was reported in the various articles from the Chinese websites, he can now run full speed in straight lines, even though not yet able to run smoothly zigzagly. He is putting in 4 hours a day in his restoration training: 1 hour on his footwork and balance, 1 hour in shooting, 1 hour in running and 1 hour in the gym on weight-lifting. He is confident he can return on court on schedule by August 1.

I guess he should be ready by August 19 when the World Championship commences.

Thanks pryuen. Great job as always. One thing that I've noticed is that you use the term "restoration" in your articles a lot. And while it is certainly a close enough term in meaning, in the United States we usually hear that as the word "Rehabilitation" or "Rehab" for short.

Now personally, it doesn't matter to me whether you use Restoration or Rehabilitation, but I thought as a translator you might want to know the term that gets more prevalent use in English.

Thanks again for all your effort.

Pruyuen - Thanks for the translation, I love these articles about Yao because the you can't find them in the US media.

International players are going to be shocked about how good Yao has become.

Yao's right. He doesn't need to always bang in the post ala Shaq to be aggressive. He's got a dead-eye with that mid-range jumper and i'd like to see him utilize it more often instead of always back to the basket. there were numerous times i'd see him at 18 feet and open and scream, "shoot!" instead he'll pass it out, and repost again. it kinda irked me.

He would do well to mix up his game. Take a page out of Elton Brand's book. Brand has molded his mid-range shot into a formidable weapon. He buries a half-dozen shots a game on pick and pops, flash cuts, and miscellaneous mid-range garbage buckets.

Don't just rely on postups. Try to figure out other ways of getting Yao open touches. Giving him a bunch of easy looks will only enhance the effectiveness of his post up game. It'll be much harder for the opponent to zero in on defending Yao.

And pryuen, I wouldn't say it was a mistake, but more of an American preference.

Naaaaah, I have not much interest to translate anything Non-Yao Ming related.

Beside, I don't want to go over that story of Jerry West out-witting Carroll Dawson on the trade of Rudy Gay + Swift Stromile for Shane Battier.

Basically, the writer just based his story from ESPN Chad Ford and the following article from Memphis Commercial Appeal

    http://www.commercialappeal.com/mca/sports_columnists/article/0,1426,MCA_468_4809480,00.html

and pretended that he got all those insider information on how Houston Rockets failed to land Brandon Roy with the Minnesota Timberwolves (Brandon Roy for Randy Foye + Luther Head or future 1st pick) and instead got short-changed by Jerry West with the current trade when accidentally none of the 5 players that Houston Rockets eyed were still there and Rudy Gay was accidentally there for the Houston Rockets to pick at #8 pick.

What are the differences between the roles of David Macha and Anthony Falsone in regard to Yao?

Yao definitely has NBA 3-point range; rumor has it that he hit 18 of 20 3 pointers in his first practice in China last week.

You can go back to read a previous David Macha's interview (another translation of mine).

    http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showpost.php?p=2373256&postcount=31

In short, David Macha specializes in players' rehabilitation (from injury), while Anthony Falsone specializes in strength enhancement/body building of healthy players. This translates into that when David Macha passes Yao Ming over to Anthony Falsone, Yao Ming will be completing his rehabilitation, and it will be upto Anthony Falsone to bring him back into competitive form and shape.

I would be fun to see yao versus the US. I am so bitter about "Team" USA that I would love to see yao dominate and lead china to a win.

also about yao's mid-range shot...maybe I am too picky but its not as reliable as it needs to be. if he could get it to be as consistent as karl malone's was then he would really have another unstoppable weapon on the pick and roll with tmac. further, I think as tracy declines more yao will be forced to develop this.

Macha is the Rockets strength/conditioning guy. Falsone used to be in that role but is now Yao's personal trainer.
