Since we had thread about Yao not getting the ball, I decided to do my pen and pad report as usual, but decided to break it down for the winer. Yao had 11 touches in the 1st qt. 7 were in scoring position and he had 2 shots plus a foul. He had 3 ft line extended as a ball mover and 1 mid post. 1 reb. After he was pulling his shorts at the 526 mark,he had 3 touches with one of those mid post ball moving spots. He's out now, will update.
I actually watch games as a scout. I always take notes and make notations. We had a thread about get him the ball, so I decided to just post what I write.
you are obviously someone who does not understand that it takes work like this to really study the game of basketball.
Lee is right. Yao is a scrub, now. I'm actually in shock Adelman still plays him. He should stop denying people who want to take photos with him, because soon, nobody will want to take a picture with a scrub.
...Uh huh. Yao's sucking it up this game. We all know that. The question about getting him the ball more should be addressed. Right now, Yao is getting the ball slightly more, and isn't taking advantage. But this is one friggin game and if you're trying to draw conclusions based on one game...eh.
Your level of scrub is borderline all-star? Huh. Interesting. Point is, throughout the 8 games, he's been the most efficient Rocket. Even if he's down one or two games, he's been the best for the Rockets for most of the games. That's why he needs the ball more. No one's being a crybaby for pointing that out, in fact they're being pretty f****** intelligent if you ask me.
Yao returns in 2nd qt at 441 mark. 5 touches with 1 turnover, a dunk and 2 tech ft's and 1 miss. 0 rebs and no double teams.
That 0 double teams is telling. Hornets are confident that Ty Chandler can shut him down, and so far, they're right.
What the heck are you smoking? LMAO after 8 games yao is not the most efficient rockets dude! are you from yao land or something? this dude have been stinking up the joint. aaron brook is easily the most productive rocket
Byron Scott likes doubling McGrady rather then Yao, this was a trend established last year...although last year Yao did torch Chandler for 28 points/14 rebounds.
Yao is not a scrub. He's a good basketball player, but the grand plans of him being the next dominant big isn't there. All I'm doing is informing people that he touches the ball, but maybe his awarness to recognize and quickly process is lagging. My college coach always told me to be a student, not a fan. Tonight I'm just posting as a student as opposed to most who watch the game in fandom. The only thing that's bothering me is he has 1 reb.
I'm not bothered by his 1 reb, because he's boxing out well. Individual rebounding stats aren't as important as team rebounding.
Great thread, Lee. I'd love to see more of these kind of threads on here. It's not about hating on a player or praising them. Just an objective, detailed breakdown of what goes on in the game. This is the stuff that should interest real basketball and Rockets fans.
I am tired of this lame excuse that he is boxing out... we are one of the worse defensive rebounding team in the league. Offensive end we do great because of Landry and others. Yao needs to REBOUND! No excuses that he is boxing out. Boxing out is part of rebounding, you can't do just one. Sadly, Yao is just too slow to do both.
yao is having a hohum game so far tonight. however - even if he's getting touches tonight does not mean same happened last night; what is his touches in terms of % to total possession - tonight and last? even if he sucks tonight, he still should be the #1 offense option. one game says nothing. chris paul didn't score a single field goal in the first half. what does that tell? little to nothing.
