i am watching this too. i love kornheiser but he has no idea about the rockets or any specifics about any teams not in the east really. i think he has a good knack for seeing 'the bigger picture' in sports, noting trends and patterns but no concept for the reality of competitors or teams. he doesn't know rockets, yao, texas for ****. he is going to rip yao. here we go, its up next.
Recap: Wilbon thinks we should be better and we'd still have toughness/def. from JVG. Kornheiser: Rockets are most disappointing team year in, year out He puts it on the players not the coaches, and Wilbon says basically that there is still time in the season and its too early to judge. Tony really doesnt like Yao.
They basically said we are the biggest disappointment in the NBA and they like how YAO has learned to call his team soft.
Yao is 200% right, the Rockets are soft, and im glad that its him to be the one that is saying it, cause he's the only player on the team that is consitantly playing good nite in and nite out.
R U serious! 12 points is really playing up to his standards?? Yao's the one that needs to grow some balls out there.
just because he doesn't put up 25 and 10 every night doesn't mean he isn't trying. it's hard for yao to look like he's giving 110%, full speed because yao at full-speed looks like an ordinary NBA player moving in slow motion. i think its apparent from the way yao has been handling these losses that he is playing hard. i can say that with confidence about a handful of other players on the team, namely luis scola, chuck hayes, and maybe shane battier, who like yao, simply lacks the athleticism to look like he's really giving that much effort. kirk snyder busted his balls last night too in the limited minutes he got. i wish i could say the same about the rest of the rockets.
The problems with the Rockets are bigger than Yao, Tracy or Adelman. There is no 1, 2 or 3 people responsible for the way they are playing these days. A large group of people from the top to bottom of the organization share responsibility. The problems date back to the end of last season, if not further, and do not exclude any of the following people: Les (mishandled the JVG firing) Daryl (shared responsibility for mishandling the JVG firing) Rick (seems too relaxed given the poor play recently) Tracy (not being a leader when we need it most during all these changes) Yao (playing soft and clumsy) Shane (needs to be more confident and adjust his offensive game) Rafer (same as always, inconsistent offensive production) Chuck (making too many bad decisions and mistakes) Bonzi (inconsistent effort and play, may still be effected by his poor conditioning from last year) Mike (not showing a lot of basketball intelligence) Steve (still expecting playing time instead of earning it) Luther (playing like crap, may be that he just isn't NBA material) I have trouble criticizing Scola or Landry. Those 2 guys seem to give 110% every second they are on the court. They are not our best players but at least they have been earning their paychecks. The same can not be said for all the others.
You can add Snyder to that list along with Scola and Landry. Snyder is out of control at times but, like Scola and Landry, he has worked hard when given the opportunity to play. Dikembe would probably earn a spot on that list too if I could remember the last time he played...
Yeah right. That 3 for 11 shooting last night was pretty "playing good". The Rockets are soft, and it starts with the big guy in the middle.
