If elgrandequeso can be negative, I can be positive!! Check it!

This is the official post for all of us who are pro-Yao or "Ming supporters." Say why you support Ming and make suggestions on what the Rockets should do to draft him. If you hate Yao Ming or have something negative to say about him, take your business elsewhere. This thread is strictly for Yao supporters and the like... Also, I have taken my passion that Yao Ming Rocks further and have created a web site to spread the word. Please take a look: The Official Yao Ming Rocks Website. Also, I encourage anyone pro-Yao to voice your thoughts via radio, newspaper, etc. to ensure that the Rockets consider drafting Yao Ming.

I am all for big Ming

He has exactly what the Rockets need....rebounding and shot blocking.

The first thing people did to us is last year was run perimenter defenses to force Cat and Francis to give up the ball to a team mate who promptly missed the open mid-range jumper. With Ming on the court, defenses will have to watch him because he will hit the open shot. This has the effect of opening the middle for Francis and Cat to drive the lane.

What about the pick -n- roll? Ming can run it with Francis or Cat better than anybody else we have now. Ming can knock down the jumper ( Ming can already shoot better than every big man we got......21 for 21...sheesh) or shoot a pass to a streaking Francis for a monster dunk.

As for what Ming brings to the defense...well...

Ming can cause players to rethink their drive to the basket from fear of getting the ball swapped away. Lets see, the idea of Griffin and Ming patrolling the paint is a "dream" to some( no pun intended ;) ) but simply a nightmare to the rest of the league.

    Is Ming an allstar....not yet
    Can Ming help the Rockets.....yes

If we select Ming, we will get the ring...

If he's 7-5, we will surprise...

If he eats rice, we won't play too nice...

    who else?

Ming is most similar to Kareem Abdul Jabbar.

Jabbar was about 7'2'' or 7'3". He had a similar build to Ming. Good, but not great athleticism. Not especially known for shotblocking or rebounding , but couldn't help get a lot of blocks and rebounds.. Great hands and shooting touch. Ming will get a hook shot. Too smart for the bully guys to really control with brute force, though at times they had luck pushing him around. Good runner up and down the floor; not an exceptional leaper or quick laterally like Hakeem for instance, but very skilled.

Jabbar was the man and number one "center" of attention since early teens, just like Ming, so fame and pressure of NBA is what he is used to.

All hail to the next Jabbar.

Bandwidth will eat The Big Cheese. And you get extra points for the extra exclamation point in the title.

However, McDyess was impressed with Yao. "I was looking forward to playing against him" - McDyess guarded Yao for a while in the first half - "and he's a pretty good player. He's agile and can shoot for a guy 7-5. They need to get him on the weights a little bit and feed him some more." Mourning, who at 6-10 was towered over by Yao, said the 19-yearold center "has a lot better outside game than most of the big men in the NBA. He can shoot and dribble and pass. I'd like to see him play in our league. I think he could make it."

It don't mean a thing if we don't draft that Ming.

As the national treasure of China, I now proudly pronounce the 7-5 center Yao Ming as the soon to be new national treasure.
Also, after my retirement, I wish to leave my cage in the zoo for that guy called ElGrandeQusoo(?) for him to "go back home and think about your life" :D

I like Ming because he is tall.
He is chinese and I like his food.
    I like his hair cut.
I like that he has never claimed to be the big aristotle.
I like that he is 21 and can buy beer like I do quite regularly.
I've been to his country and I liked that.
He's used to driving on the right side on the road.
I like that I can pronounce his name already.
I like Ming because he is tall.
