Yao Ming Relived His Unforgetable Olympics Experiences

Saw this interview of Yao Ming on CCTV, reliving his memories of the 2000 Sydney Olmpics and the 2004 Athens Olympics. (This was taken shortly before he left Beijing for Houston).

He fondly remembered those 2 blocks on Vince Carter and Gary Payton in the 2000 Sydney Olympics, and said he had a relatively easy time there as he was the youngest players on the team, and he knew his own role....more on defense, for rebounds and blocks, and if he could score a few points then it was all good.

He explained why his outburst of anger on his team mates for lack of fighting spirit, and never learnt from their mistakes after the humiliation by Spain in the 2004 Athens Olympics. He said given his experience and age now, he could have handled it more diplomatically then. But then he was young, and he did not regret for chewing his team mates and CBA out then.

He also fondly remembered how they fought as underdogs and beat Serbia & Montenegro to enter the Final 8 and how they celebrated like mad afterwards.
