http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/sports/bk/bkn/5363984.html This is probably the most angry public comment Yao has made after a Rockets game. Could have interesting consequences.
hmm the one game Rafer is out, Yao has his worst game and complains about the team not sticking to the game plan......coincidence?
referring to todays game, not the game of basketball in general. the title seems to be a little misleading. good to see yao's passion, but do something about it big man DOMINATE
he should hate this game. he is owning responsibility. glad he isn't smiling after this one. he also uses the term 'us' implying his teammates could step it up as well. definitely acrimonious, the most disdainful i've ever seen yao. we need changes though, i don't think it is bad from a rocket's vantage point whatsoever.
Why did the Houston Chronicle add "adherence to the" in the middle of "no game plan"? Unless they took that from his other comments, there's a big difference between "no game plan" and "no adherence to the game plan". One is critical of the coaching... the other is critical of the players.
SF3 didn't pass the ball to Yao. I saw James and Battier passed several times to Yao. I think I understand why JGD traded SF3 and played Rafer.
Last year under Gundy there were numerous games the Rockets won based on pure effort. They outworked and outhustled teams, and as a result they beat all the teams they should and some they shouldn't have. This year, so far is the exact opposite. The intensity has seemingly gone down, and the Rockets aren't talented enough to win on a consistent basis without putting forth maximal effort. I think this is a coaching issue.
I didn't watch the game, but I know Francis doesn't know how to play WITH Yao. We obviously still need Rafer. Steve should remain a spark off the bench.
We have been saying that for years though. He always says that after a lost btw. He's just too nice to be anymore aggressive than he has shown. And to some of the posters in other thread saying that yao doesn't have heart, he does, he just has a different way of showing it than pumping chest and shouting like a garnett. Gentle giant he is but is that who we need?
I'm just curious, does MJ ever pass to Yao? I think MJ will start hitting his shots at some point so I think by the end of the year all of us will be glad he's here to spark off the bench but dayum I don't like him on the court when Yao's in. I don't think he get's what Yao does; it was really noticable once today when Yao was down low and single-covered. MJ was only feet from Yao ... an easy pass away yet MJ tried to force a shot. yikes
To all the "where are you, yao, when we need" askers: He's not got the damn ball the whole 2nd half! Damn!
