He is a tall drink of water isn't he? Definitely poor competition. He establishes position very well. I doubt he will be able to do that in the NBA. I would of like to see him do some moves rather than just make layups. He seems to be a good free throw shooter. His no look pass from the top of the key was nice.

I've played better pickup games than they were playing there. I come away from this very disapointed. He seems to me to be no more than a quicker version of Shawn Bradley. I expected more.

The main thing I noticed is that he does not move like Bradley. He has the coordination of a smaller man. Also, he is only 21.

    Very limber, very nimble. Oh that's right...he's 7'6"...plays like he's 6'8"

His footwork looks real good and he establishes his postions real well. He'll get stronger and faster, but for 21 in that league. He's the #1 boys..no doubt about it!

I saw (what?) 30 minutes...of this championship game...I saw nothing that made me say..."he's awkward"

    n.o.t.h.i.n.g.

100% opposite to that. Like Doc Rocket...I said....he doesn't look 7'5" until you see someone stand next to him....very smooth. Knows his moves; executes them in rhythm...Likes a back to the basket, turn and shoot jumper with a nice release...a basketball release...not a project release like Cato.

that said...I saw not much that wants me to trade Francis for him either...They play Navy ball...it sucks. The Yao-maker is not "making" the offense. He IS the offense for sure (plus that #10 guard)...but he is not running (Yao-making) the offense like he's been quoted as wanting to do like Sabonis.

As far as defense goes...what are you going to say...no scout watching this video can really say whether his stuff will translate more than for any 7'5"...but that is still good.

"The server session limit was exceeded."

Anyone else having a similar problem?

this game is typical of yao ming

he hasn't learnt to create his shots yet at all that's true but he wants to... journals/interviews always state it but i'm sure one problem is the lack of coaching and competition for 7'+ footers in asia

they've beaten qatar in the asian finals with the great wall before which is a decent athletic team but in general it is quite euro and in that strange way
you wont see stuff that looks flashy except for passes that are weird... and somehow the ball just goes in a lot even with a fugly shot or move...

if ever they get a translator for ming, they shouldn't get a guy like they got for wang who doesn't understand american bball enough... and lacks the american lingo and knowhow of ball and even culture... i feel that'll be a huge impact on how quickly and powerfully ming sets into the nba.

I have to wonder how long it will take Ming to adjust to the physical play.

Dirk Nowitzki's been in the NBA for 4 years now, and he still isn't that physical of a player.

yao ming has a stronger chin and is just the type to get and stay in the lane and take confrontations head on

i can say this for boards and defense, but a real physical guy on offense, he is not this yet.

he will need to be coached and play competitively against tall physical guys to begin to understand this. his best physical competition in china was mengke bateer who's starting for the nuggets (which of course doesn't say much:D ) ... a bruiser he can 1v1 with all day would be great cept i can see cato sitting down fast and playing gameboy after getting blocked 6 times in a row

i'd still say fast - the guy said he loves to block guys to demoralize teams heh

    he's definitely ok at it
of course it's not like he's got athletic 6'10 guys all around him yet though.
