How does shark fin soup taste anyway? I think I'll eat it just once.

this is awesome. its really a tragedy how many sharks are killed for the fin and then just tossed back in the water.

when the buy in stops, the king can too

There are substitute versions of it that taste equally as good.

But Shark Fin essentially doesn't taste like anything, but the texture combined with the soup and other ingredients makes it awesome.

I've had a few times years ago and it's actually really really good.

I've always wondered why they do that. Are there no other parts of the shark that taste good?

You can buy shark steaks at grocery stores. Shark fin, from everything I've been told, has no taste, or not much of one. I've never tried it, so I don't know - maybe someone else can comment.

I think I've had it once. I really couldn't tell which part of the soup was the shark fin to be honest. But the soup itself was delicious, maybe the shark fin just adds to the overall flavor of it?

from what i hear, shark meat is not very firm and has some really bad smell to it that is why they throw the body back into the water after they cut the fins off

I've always wanted to try one. There's a restaurant that has delicious SFS close to where I am apparently, but alas, my budget does not allow it.

One of my roommates a long time ago used to rave about it all the time. But he also used to rave about cow eye soup or something like that... so who knows.

I had it a long time ago. From what I remember, it was a bit chewier than fish. And yes, there was some sort of unique smell to it that I didn't particularly like.

Not going to cry for a shark. They've been around for over 400 million years - they'll figure out a way to keep on keeping on. Sharks can really f. over humans trying to enjoy the open waters--so I guess they're upset with us for this sharkfin soup thing.;)

That looked like "The Aquarium" restaurant... or is there another one that looks just like it somewhere where in Asia?
Yeah, because if we don't go in the sea where there are sharks, we won't survive!
