This long article appeared on today's Titan Sports/Tom.com, written by Yang Yi, Yao Ming's buddy. In it, Yao Ming talked about his feelings of coaching from Carroll Dawson, Tom Thibodeau and Hakeem The Dream Olajuwon.

    good article, thanks for posting.

I wonder how long it will take denniscd to come in and say how terrible a coach CD is, and how Yao doesn't know what he's talking about.

Sounds like Yao is happy with the coach changes. I think he liked Rudy the best, and fondly remembers that rookie year. And then JVG came. JVG is a damn good quality coach, and I am sure Yao Ming liked him, but he is so inflexible, and uses a brute force approach to everything: work harder! play harder! even if a play doesn't work. which is fine, but during playoffs, opposing coaches can adjust and find weaknesses. JVG can't.

Now, finally, CD is allowed to teach Yao techniques suitable for a 7'6 center. Hakeem is a different type of player, and what he did, doesn't necessarily apply to Yao. I hope that Yao can train with CD for the entire summer, and learn everything necessary to become much better next year!

Thank God that someone can see Yao can do more things than grind in the post and shoot fadeaway jumpers like he's Patrick Ewing.

Yao has a training regimen that lasts as long as Kobe's does. Talk about a hard worker.

JVG & Tom lovers: Another PR op of CD tries to steal the credit of Yao's improvements.

denniscd: CD, no matter what u do, you go die! Die! Die!

man if yao had done this EVERY offseason instead of playing for China, we would have seen leaps and bounds of improvement rather than increments.

but next yr is the yr. i really hope yao can really find a style of game where if things go wrong, he goes to his "pet" move and just obliterate that defense. that's when u are unstoppable.

but i would prefer to see him improve on the defense and rebounding side more. offense, i know he'll improve. he's too talented and too good not to.

but the other side is more effort. it's not about talent. and i hope he'll improve his stamina/conditioning/and strength to be an "intimidator" on that side.

good job yao. now have some rest and not burn yourself out. we're gonna have a LONG season next yr.

Great article, i can't wait for the next season to start. I expect to see Yao playing at an even higher level in the upcoming season, just like how he had surprised every year since he joined NBA. Good luck Yao, viva Houston Rockets :D

Well, I only concern how long it will take for MacGreat to come in and say how I used my imagination and wrote up this novel about Yao Ming's feeling of his coaches....... :D

I keep reading Speed and Yao in the same sentence but isn't that a oxymoron??? Yao admits he doesn't have the same base skill as Hakeem ( Speed + Footwork ) and doesnt expect to have moves like him.. :( Meaning Yao cannot be creative with his post moves so that leaves little to the imagination... He will be an easy read for the defense so hopefully Adelman can somehow create the spacing Yao needs to get off a shot.

well guess yao didn't learn much from hakeem. it's up to dawson i guess. as long as yao becomes a dominant force where he commands a double team EVERY play, i'm happy. it doesn't matter who teaches him.

he doesn't already command a double team every time he touches the ball?

the biggest knock on Yao's moves is the predictibility. Okur in so many words said he knew what Yao was planning on doing as soon as he touched the ball based on his positioning.

countermoves and sky hooks sound like the answer to me, lets see if CD makes a difference.

We gotta give credit to Thibodeau. He took Yao to another level. Hopefully Yao has another level which CD/Sikma will take him.

no he doesn't already command a double team every time he touches the ball? maybe when he faces phoenix or warriors or small teams like that. but for the most part, he does not.

one example is the lakers themselves. when we played on national TV, phil didn't even look to double him one bit. even the analysts were saying they were playing straight up. and utah after game 1 played him straight up.

i think okur said that to get into yao's heads. but most players moves are predictable if u watch enough game tape. i mean, i know tmac is gonna rise up at the last second, or do that spin-fade when he posts up... but u still can't stop it at times.

yao was unstoppable at times too doing the same "predictable" moves. he just wasn't getting good position. it's ALL ABOUT POSITIONING with yao.

8ft in - most dominant player
outside of that - average player

MacGreat is a coward if she doesnt come out and point out the parts you put your Yao fetish in your translation. I just check the original chinese column and there are so many parts MacGreat can pick on you. You better be careful!

btw, have you check your ex-galfriend list? Are you sure MacGreat is not your ex? And you abandoned her because of your Yao fetish.

So let me get this straight: Now that CD is through screwing up the Rockets' drafts and the Rockets' roster, he's turned his attention to screwing up Yao but instead of looking at what CD is doing to Yao, you are still slamming JVG. Amazing...
