Really, its all speculation until a new talent goes against NBA competition. I know the Rockets will be disappointed if Yao proves to be a S.Bradley with chop sticks. At least, Hakeem had proven himself against the best NCAA competition. I'm not sure where I stand on this one, but I lean toward Ming being closer to Bradley than Olajuwon. What do you think? WildArkieBoy
Like the jingle for that new Chips-ahoy cookie cream sandwiches goes, he's "smack dab, in the middle." He's never going to be as great as Olajuwon in my opinion, nor will he suck ass like Bradley. I think he will be a good center and a good pro, but he's no future hall of famer.
That really isn't a fair comparison. That's like comparing Nachbar to Langhi or Bird. Ming is a LOT better than Bradley, but is he the next Olajuwon. No. He is the next Ming. Olajuwon was a very VERY good player. We could only dream he could be as good as he was. But out of those two, I'll lean towards Hakeem. Both have good footwork, both rely on finnesse(SP?) more than power, and both have good work ethics. Bradley is just a tall guy who plays basketball. Badly might I add.
The way I see the Ming issue its like a midget useing mouth.....Who would know? For all any of us know he could be biggest thing since fast food, He might be so awesome...They line his name up Hakeem, Wilt, and Oneil someday
Such a lack of understanding!! Yao Ming will never be a Bradley or Olajuwon. How could he,he is quite different with different talent! I feel confident after a couple of years, we will realise there will never be another Yao Ming as he will become a BB Legend unto himself. Not a copy of anyone else!!
ming was better than bradley probably by the time he was 16. it's not even close. dream worked every offseason to become the best, hopefully ming will as well. as others have said, ming has a great oppurtunity to be a great center but not just a copy of another one.
how can you say he'll lean on brad. yao is a athletic player he can actually schoot. brad cant. and he can actually run. brad cant and sabonis lol. yao is quicker than most centers out there thats his size and centers that are not his size.
Who the hell knows? Those who have been to China think he'll do well. I sure don't know. It's actually ridiculous how many people are making "bold" certain predictions on the subject.
every baller r different. they look different and play differently. you cant compare them to other player.
What a surprise that some guy named "WildArkieBoy" would make a racial comment. Maybe if you took off that white blanket sheet over your head, you could see that he has nothing in common with either Bradley or Olajuwon. A better comparison would be you and David Duke. Is there any difference?
when Olajuwon first entered the league... id anyone ever say that he would "revolutionize the league"? NOPE......... but already there are tons of ppl saying that about Ming.............. just ask Bill Walton....
The only reason why bradley playd basketball was because he was tall. but olajuwon playd it cuz he loved da game. bradley had no love for the game he was just there because he was tall. And Yao will be like Olajuwon. Cuz he has a feel for the game unlike bradley
I'm not so sure about the love of the game. We fans definitely love the game. But for the professional players, money and fame play an important role. That is why so many young players skip college. A more proper definition is the love of success (fame + money). I see nothing wrong with Bradley. He makes good money, takes care of his family and is strongly religious. His definition of sucess might be different from others'. Look at it this way. Bradley makes the Mav fans suffer but makes fans of all other teams happy when they see their players dunk on Bradley. Overall, Bradley does more good than harm to the society.
LOL. That's one of the more thoughtful comments I've seen. I'd rather have more people like Bradley in the society than people like those guys who do drugs, beat up their wives, or waving their guns at people (I'm not gonna name names). Maybe we should think twice when we make fun of Bradley (or Cato ). Wait a minute! Their values to the society should include being made fun of during a long boring summer between NBA seasons.
