1. about Yanjing beer Yao Ming:"I will not sign endorsements with any alcoholic drink. I don't drink alcohol." "They signed a six-year deal with Rockets? Oh, it's longer than my contract." 2. Chinese TV stations reportedly will broadcast 30 Rockets games in China. 3. From Eric, Ming's contract will be done when he arrives at USA. 4. Ming's schedule: quite the same with what we have known- a short break at China and comes to Houston at the later of October. 5. Yao Ming is a superstar at Busan. Numberless beautiful Korean girls follow him everywhere and shout "Yao Ming, I love you" in Chinese. Ming said he didn't like to be treated as a star. 6. From many reports I have read, Ming is an environmentalist. This article proved it. Ming picked some garbage from ground when he left the stadium. see the whole story at www.nanfangdaily.com.cn
Yes! That is the best thing I have heard about Yao all offseason! What a perfect fit he is going to be, considering that Les Alexander is also an environmentalist. Great news.
6. From many reports I have read, Ming is an environmentalist. This article proved it. Ming picked some garbage from ground when he left the stadium. Whoops!!! Let's hope he can look past the fact that we are the smoggiest city in the U.S. Hey Yao, get used to whiffs of Budweiser Factory pal. Ewww.
Compared to where he's from he'll love the downtown bums, construction, dirt and trash all over the place near the arena. It will be nice when it's done and I'm sure they will run the bums off, but what a culture shock that will be...
Philippines unbeaten at Asian men's basketball -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ¡¡¡¡ BUSAN, Oct. 4 (Xinhuanet) -- Philippines sailed past Chinese Taipei 83-69 here on Friday to stay unbeaten at the men's basketball tournament of the Busan Asian Games. "It's good that we've moved to the next round and we will be playing China," said Philippines head coach Uichico Joseph after leading Philippines to their fourth straight win at the Asian Games. With two victories against no loss, Philippines now led the second round Group I, followed by China (1-0), Japan (1-0) and Chinese Taipei (2-0). If China beat Japan in their clash on Saturday, they will secure a top two finish from the group and a berth in the semi-finals for Philippines and themselves. Chinese Taipei stayed within 43-34 after the first half, but Philippines pulled away with a 19-8 run in the third quarter. Philippines, bronze medalists at the Bangkok Asian Games, will play China on Tuesday. "It's difficult to beat China, they are just too good and too big," Joseph said. "We will just do the best we can." Joseph thought that the 2002 NBA top pick Yao Ming of China would be unstoppable. "In this kind of competition, he is really unstoppable," Josephsaid. "We will try to prepare the best we can. You can only minimize him but you can not stop him." Pauliasi Taulava, who led Philippines with 18 points and 10 rebounds, considered playing against Yao as a challenge for him. "He is really good. It will be a big challenge for me to play against him, because he is 7-feet-5 (2.26-meter) and he is the NBAtop pick. I will just move around and try to find the position for shots." "You know I have played Ri Myong-Hun, but Yao is in a different book. I will just do my best."
Hopefully, the first time Yao sees a Tony Romas he will chow down... ...Beef, it's what's for dinner!
Steve Francis: "Yo Yao-Dawg, let's go out and get some drinks" Yao Ming: "I have not yet found a car big enough for me." Steve: "There's a dealership nearby. We'll pick you out a nice big SUV. That's what Americans drive." Yao: "I like the environment. Big cars are bad for the air." Steve: "Fine, Yao, I'll drive my car. We'll go have a few beers, get drunk, and I'll drive us back." Yao: "I don't drink beers." Steve: "Hmmm....How about a strip club? I'll teach you everything I ever learned from Sir Charles.." Yao: "I have a girlfriend."
Now that Mengke Bateer is only living 197.04 miles (317.04 km) away in San Antonio...will that 30 games increase? Sounds like a great marketing matchup for China/Asia...Rockets vs Spurs 4x ...Yao vs Mengke. (I know that they won't really be matched up, but the marketeers will ignore that fact).
Actually, I believe that China televised a late season matchup between the Mavs and Nuggets last season, billing it as "Wang vs. Mengke," so that idea is entirely possible. P.S. Wouldn't it be interesting if Dallas ends up keeping Wang. Then, every Texas team would have a Chinese player. Talk about a nice trade partner for the State of Texas!
I hope he doesn't look past it, I'd rather he speaks out about it. Even if you aren't GREEN I think it's high time we all agreed to clean up our air. The other day, there was this John Stossel thing where he talks about how kids are being taught to be too extreme about the environment and he had scientist on who said global warming was a joke. The one thing that annoyed me is that he never bothered to talk about how dirty air affects people. Go down to those neigborhoods in Pasedena and Baytown and see if you can talk to anybody without them having a coughing fit.
