its time to celebrate! in my opinion, the biggest improvement from yao is not his ft shooting or rebounding, but his turnover ratio! if he can keep his turnovers below 2, we should be much better off going into the playoffs. sometimes one or two turnovers are the 2 to 4 points the rockets need to win the game!
The team did a great job in limiting its turnovers. But how many of them came trying to get the ball to Yao? No matter who actually gets credited with the turnover, I always think responsibility should be shared between the passer and the recipient.
thats because the magic never swarmed him. he was being played 1 on 1 the whole time. i guess we should celebrate that he didnt dribble it off his foot.
Ever notice how Yao never did his "spin around man, dribble dunk?" The opposite Shanghai Shake? I think he learns not to do that against players like Dwight.
Especially early on it was D. Howard that was fumbling with the basketball. There were about 3 failed entry passes to Yao though that theoretically could count as half a turnover...
well its really not a surprise he didnt turn the ball over, he was fronted the entire game, so he didnt have time to do his-low-post-wait-5-seconds-for- the-double-team-then get-stripped move.
Notice he said no matter who gets credit, it should be on both. And why not. One player didnt give a good target, and the other player didnt do enough to place the ball where it needed to be. Both at fault. Maybe you are a "Yao can do no wrong" type of person and took offense to Durvasa's idea? Seems logical but there is no "half a turnover."
You don't show much intelligence with your post. On the one hand you tried to make a point that he would have TOs only if he got swarmed? On the other hand, you tried to imply that he could easily get a TO even like dribbling the ball off his foot. Looks like your left brain refuses to agree with your right brain?
No. http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showpost.php?p=4373526&postcount=1013 "Good passing big men are able to to deliver the ball to a guard going in the other direction. That's always preferable, especially when you're desperate to get some easy points on the other end. I don't remember Yao ever being a good outlet passer. He doesn't see the floor well enough. That said, that turnover is the shared responsibility of Yao and Aaron."
I have been very proud of Yao this year. I think this has by far been his best year in blocks, rebounding shooting. Yao doesn't get many attempts to shot but always is getting 20+ points. If we can get through the west we can beat anyone in the east, atleast of the top east teams.
The stat sheet does indeed say 0 turnover, but I thought I saw a turnover. After he grabbed an offensive rebound, he got stripped. I guess the statkeeper must have thought that he didn't have full pocession. Good game nevertheless.
shane, von, lowry and deke also got 0 TOs last night, so did all the other guys who didn't play the game.
RON ARTEST is turning into RAFER ALSTON.... Didnt you hate the times where Rafer was going 5-20? 4-17? or 3-12? Ron Artest shot 6-21..... Thats Rafer-esque. While Yao was 8-13.... Why the **** is Ron Artest shooting 21 times???? Give me the ball to your All World Center. Ron Artest you need to STOP SHOOTING THE BALL SO MUCH. The last person who shot the ball so much (and missed!)got his ass shipped out. We dont mind if you shoot 21 shots if you can get 50% shooting percentage, but when your shooting percentage is 30% you shouldnt be shooting 21 shots! CK
Yao Ming FG% 2008-2009 season .547% Ron Artest FG% 2008-2009 season .401% Rafer Alston FG% 2008-2009 season .381% Thank god we shipped out Rafer Alston.... The WORST starting PG in the NBA period. CK
