Sina just reported that Yao just had his stitch removed yesterday and was doing weight lifting in Toyota center at New Year's Eve. It seems Yao is recovering very well, much better than doctor's original expectation.

Yao will start rehab. immediately and is longing for coming back early in Feb. (it won’t surprise us at all if he comes back in three weeks as the team needs him desperately).

Some how, I doubt this was a recent picture of him weight lifting.

Oh Sina, how do you do it? You always seem to amaze me with your crap.

That's really crappy if true. That particular reporter (the Zhu guy ) has some reliable news about the Rockets before so I thought he might be trustful this time (He stays in Houston to follow Yao and Rockets news in particular)

Sina is famous at giving crap news, there is no way I'll believe that! I don't want to see Yao coming back until he's 100% healthy. This season is almost over.

um .. you guys can do 10 reps of standing military press with 135 lb free weights?

that's hardly light by any means. maybe for a 7'6" , 310+ lb guy yes.

Don't forget - every guy on the internet is Superman, and every (alleged) chick is Playboy material.

What planet have YOU been living on??

That was an old photo of Yao Ming doing the weight lifting.

But the articles that were released today on sina.com were from a Houston-based Chinese reporter Zhu Junwei, who did full coverage of Yao Ming's NBA activities and possibly had some latest updates that those reporters at Houston Chronicle did not bother to report/pursue.

The following is the summary of what were reported in 2 articles published today on sina.com.

Wow, Yao is really beasting those power cleans. Too bad there are girls on my track team that could almost clean as much as he's putting up there. :)

Those look like 15kg plates, which would make the total pounds lifted 33+33+45 = 111. That's not very much for powercleans, although we don't know how many reps he's doing. His size does make the movement significantly more difficult, however.

If it's olympics standard equipment there then yellow is 15kg and the bar itself is 20kg. So that'll be 50kg all up not 100+.
