    He has a point. If Deke retires we're essentially stuck with 6'6" Chuck, 6'7" Landry and whatever Loren Woods or the next NBDL caliber joker we sign next backing up Yao.

    If Hibbert is there at pick #25 I think it's fairly obvious what we need to do. I would even go so far as to dangle Luther Head to see if we can move up a few spots in order to take Hibbert.

    If Deke leaves we'll need to replace, but I'm pretty sure Morey won't do that with Hibbert. Last year our biggest need was size as well, and Morey passed up on 3 bigs that were highly rated (Big Baby Davis, Josh McRoberts, and Nick Fazekas) to pick two undersized players in Brooks and Landry. Turns out those moves were largely correct (Big Baby probably would have done well for us also). This year in Hibbert we have a big man who if he had left last year or the year before would have probably made the lottery. Sounds just like McRoberts or Big Baby actually. The thing about college is that, barring injuries, the cream usually rises to the top. If you are unable to make large strides year by year in your game then it's pretty telling. I'd not be surprised to see Hibbert fall to round 2; his senior year was an absolute disappointment.

    I'd personally like to see us take a long 2/3 guard like CDR or Courtney Lee, but if they're not there I bet Morey picks someone who does not have very much exposure, either a big like Serge Ibaka or one of the Euros. People will be disappointed, but maybe that's the sign of a good draft these days. I know I hated our draft the day after it was done.

    Oh and JJ Hickson. He's a freshman PF but extremely underrated. Sidney Lowe is an awful coach.

    Was it DM that passed him up, or CD? I don't know when CD gave up his duties to DM. I don't think we should draft a backup center, we need a proven center that can manage to play enough to keep Yao in good shape most of the year. There were alot of games where we had a commanding league and we still had our stars on the court. Our bench needs to get a little stronger so that we can rely on them not to blow leads when we take Tracy and Yao out.

    Yep, neither of those three bigs you mentioned made as big of a difference as Landry or Brooks. I don't think you can get good players with size this low in the draft, its just impossible. Guys as big as Hibbert look really good in college because they are so much bigger than most of their opponents. Usually when they get to the NBA they look slow, unatheletic, and weak because they don't have those advantages over the guys they are playing against anymore.

    I don't think i'd agree that Fazekas, Big Baby or McRoberts were all highly rated considering they were all picked in the second round. Clearly, we got better value by taking Brooks at pick #26 rather than taking any of those three too early.

    I've made many posts about Hibbert and I haven't in any those claimed to be dazzled by his senior campaign. I'm a huge Big East guy -- I watched him a lot. Dominant at times and he disappeared at others. All the same, he's a 21-year-old college senior that's NBA ready and could immediately fill Deke's role of blocking/altering shots, playing defense, rebounding, scoring when you can and making hustle plays. Not only that but he has very high basketball IQ and has a jump shot to boot. I think it's a perfect match.

    against most teams in the league, the rox can have their way with them as they did during the streak. the teams with several long players were hard to beat. boston, utah, san antonio and the lakers will be big hurdles for our team. scola and hayes just aren't tall enough. Landry is almost hungry enough to outrebound some of those guys. not sure what can be done about this situation since the team is happy with the pfs they have on hand.

    He probably means size at the back up wing positions too. We get killed when we have to bring in Luther Head.

    We do need size in the frontcourt but also in the backcourt. Head,Jackson,Brooks are all too short,and the only one worth retaining is Brooks.

    That's what I was thinking about when I read the piece. I think the journalist misunderstood Yao. I think he mentions Scola and Landry to say PF is good, we just need size at SF, SG, and PG.

    I posted that as a response to the post.. that he was talking about the back court size not the pf size.

    It does look like Yao was reiterating what Morey & Adelman have said last couple of days.

    I think Yao has a point about getting more size, especially in the frontcourt.

    Lakers= 7'0 Bynum, 7'0 Gasol, 6'10 Odom, 6'10 Radmonovic and 6'10 Turiaf.

    and 6'8 Kobe. If they win the whole enchilada this year w/o Bynum, look out for the Laker dynasty when he comes back.

    Kobe's 6-6 close to 6-7. The reason their good is because all of their bigs have offensive talent. We need to get bigger but getting better offensively is more important. I think we saw how much better having Landry and Scola made us.
