That's based on a Chron article. Well, I guess Yao doesn't deserve to be on the allstar game. Camby and Brad Miller are more worthy...

If you look at the nba website, the leading center is scoring 21 or 22 something. Who will that be? They list Duncun as Center?

That would be Bosh. He is more a PF than center. Duncan is averaging 19.9.

ESPN doesn't list Yao because he doesn't qualify.

They've got Duncan, Bosh, and Gasol in the top three, and I think they all play PF, not center.

From there, it drops to Okur at 17.9 ppg.

Bottom line = Yao is the best-scoring center in the NBA.

Bosh and J.O'neal are listed as centers in the fantasy league but I wouldn't consider them centers at all.

It's interesting that some writers clamor for Camby, given that he was recently out a month and has missed about as much time this season as Yao. I don't understand the idea that Yao doesn't deserve to be an All-Star at all ... that to me just sounds like those writers are clueless.

However, when you look at the numbers, Camby, in slightly less playing time per game, is dwarfing Yao in rebounds and blocked shots -- and those categories are crticial of a center. In fact, despite playing more than ever in his career minutes-wise per game, Yao is at a career-low in blocks.

the reason is simple... they do not like seeing yao succeed.. and they're bitter he's so popular.. they want to find some dirt to talk trash about him but they cant given how yao is a gentle giant. just loveable person. so it pisses them off even more!

let me summarize it some more.. THEY JUST HATING...........

Camby is much more of a defensive player than an offensive player. While Yao's defense is vastly underrated (you only need to watch one game to see the vast number of shots he alters by imposing his presence in the paint), Camby grabs more rebounds and gets more blocks. But Yao is superior to anyone in this league as far as offense goes. There is no center that has his combination of finesse, low post moves, strength and shooting ability - not to mention his passing. Truth is that despite the numbers, Camby's defense is not really significantly better than Yao's -- Yao does not need to block a shot to make it brick simply because of his sheer size. Sports writers need to stop hating on Yao and get with the program...because right now he *is* the best center in the league.

what's truly sad is that the BIGGEST haters are Black reporters who should know something about racial bias....and the #1 Hater = Stephen A. Smith.

If you've ever heard this guy rail on and on about Yao, Dirk, Nesterovich...you'd think he truly believes anybody NOT Black does not deserve to play in the NBA.

These guys will find anything to criticize Yao about...despite the fact that there is not a GM in the league that would rather have any other center.

Well, from Defense point of view, Also need consider the area that a player can cover. I think Camby is doing better because of his quickness.

But I think Camby 's numbers are overrated. YAO is much better center than he is.

I think the reason Yao gets less blks is the rule change. He can't do anything when a player rush in him, the ref will call him a foul anyway. Sometimes, th best thing he can do for himself and rockets fans is just watching!!!

This has bothered me as well. I have wondered how much racism has effected Yao's game. I'm not saying that it is anything like the white on black racism that occured when Jackie and Russell went thru it, but I believe that it is still there. Sad that America hasn't learned to quit caring about where you came from. Who cares where you are from? Can you contribute? Can you help out? That's all that matters to me.

Exactly. You also have to wonder why the Nuggets were winning so much without Camby, and came back down to earth once he came back, exact opposite occurs with Yao.
