This is yet another knee jerk reaction thread.. I dont recall the reason why he is so much more skinnier this year than last year? Am I the only one that sees this? Presumably, this is to help take the weight of his knees?
I'm not sure... I remember reading some article last year about how he had lost a ton of weight over the course of the season; I guess it was sometime in December or early January - but it said that he has trouble staying at his optimal playing weight throughout the whole season; i.e., he loses weight.
This explains why Yao gets rejected so many times, If he is much lighter and weaker, its hard for him to bump of his defender to create separation, yet he is so use to been able to create separation that he still goes with the same move and consequently gets rejected. He is probably adjusting to his new weight in the NBA
Its the coke. Yao has been partying with those crazy white girls again, Lindsey Lohan and Paris Hilton.
If losing 20 pounds or so helps prevent injuries like stress fractures, it's fine with me. Every time Yao falls, I cringe.
It is true. I think Landry dropped a few as well to ease the tension on his knees. I think Yao is better beefed up.
year by year yao is getting more westernized, and probably he found out that ganja is where its at and he started usin it and doesnt wanna stop anytime soon. i dunno really. he never was muscular, but still a baller nonetheless
he looks very thin compared to the beast he was a couple years back, coincidentally when he was his unstoppable best. if this is designed to extend his career and keep him on the court then obviously i'm all for it but right now with him looking a bit rusty it's hard not to put the two things together. my guess is that he's still very strong but he still hasn't shaken the rust out from being out for so long. he also doesn't have the stamina that he was showing in years past and that's probably a bigger reason why he's not dominating. he's never relied on athleticism and he's still young so i bet within a month we'll forget about ever questioning him. just give him some time.
it was reported early in the offseason that his trainer was easing up on the bulking to relieve some of the pounding he took. Personally, i think he needs the upper body strength, he's like one of those blowup boxing dummies, heavy at the bottom so they don't fall, but light up top so when you hit'em they tip over.
You are going to lose a few pounds when you are working day (the Rockets) and night (newly married). He will be fine once he got tired of th night job.
The weight distribution of those boxing dummies has nothing to do with why they tip over (but not fall), and everything to do with the way the bottom is shaped. A solid pyramid of he same weight won't tip over, but it is bottom-heavy, nonetheless. In fact, being heavier at the base makes it HARDER for an object to topple.
I didn't mean to be that literal when I used the comparison, but even a solid pyramid would sway back and forth (the top half) if it could bend at the mipoint,, which is what i meant. Yao's strong and heavy legs anchor him to the floor, but his top half gets thrown around.
