Last year, Yao got a lot of help from PF(Cato) on defense. He is more efficient on offense.

This year, Yao have to help to defend the other team's PF. Unfortunately, his feet is too slow. And he is getting into foul trouble quickly. He was also being dunked on from the weakside because he could come back from his help defense. We all see Yao's foul trouble, but we should also analyze how he got all those fouls. How many times he fouled while defending his own man, and how many times he made fouls on help defense?

This foul trouble thing really hurt Yao's game. But after seeing Sheed, Bosh and Gasol's performance, I can't force myself to imagine that there will be a PF answers in the near future.

Guess we won't hear anything about Yao's new contract for a while.

Com'on, don't bullsh*t it. You can't guard is you can't guard, don't blame PF. They are doing nice job.

it's true...Yao gets a lot of bs calls when he slides over to help out on someone else's man. He rarely ever gets calls when guarding his man one on one.

Sad but true...I do miss Cato. :(

Sorry, I didn't get chance to read that thread. But the good thing is that I am not the only one noticing this.

There is some truth to your statetment but Yao is a supposed to be a superstar and it shouldn't matter. Shaq has worst PF's than Yao and it's not effecting him. SO don't blame it all on the PF's. Great players are great regardless. Yao needs to step it up. He can be a great player but he needs the mentality of a great Player. The eye of the tiger!

Yao is supposed to help PF in defense. Finding excuse for him is down grading him. He should figure out how to avoid fouls.

Why wasn't Mutombo paying the price for the "weak" PFs? He is also slow and nearly 40 years old for god's sake, but he still managed to block 6 shots and intimidated opponents.

Face it, he just know how to defend and Yao doesn't. So stop making excuses and blaming teammates. They are not so called franchise players and they did their fair shares IMO.

Yao need to learn defence from Mutombo. He just need to learn.

SPEED - Mutombo is faster than Yao
    Shaq is faster than Yao

Also . . I think they get more benefit of the doubt than Yao
    [They have EARNED their reps]

    And Lastly
They may have better blocking instincts than Yao
