unless he is being guarded by Mamadou N'Diaye

I watched the Toronto game, and every time he touched the ball something good happened.. whether a pass or a shot

Why he doesn't get more than 3-4 shots a game is beyond me, the guy obviously has more post moves than 2 of your average NBA centers combined. And on defense - the rockets just need to play zone and he just has to stand near the hoop and he's already contributed.

i dunno, maybe Rudy wants to bring him along VERRRYY slowly, or is trying not to work him too hard early on.. but it would be nice to see him get more touches in the few minutes he does play..

well, he does pass out of a lot of opportunities. More touches will come with time.

i seen him have position down low and not get the ball

i guess that's what Hakeem was pissed about too, in his last couple seasons in Houston.

    FEED THE POST!!

Especially every time Yao is guarded by Mamadou-esque players

    :D

Rudy to Yao...you foul, you sit!

Plain and simple. This is about learning the system, his defensive assignments,
    defensive foot-work and his teammates.

It is more important for him to learn these aspects of the game rather
than him just coming in an "jacking up shots" like Mobley.

That wont help him with the game: as a whole!

Yao will get more time as the season goes along. But the Rocket trainers
are also working with Yao in the gym to make him quicker and stronger,
which will help him be less foul prone.

We know he can shoot. We know be can pass. But, he has more important
    things to learn right now.

Why is there so much impatience about Yao? He's been playing in the NBA for what, 4 weeks now?

Goal #1: Make the playoffs? Second Round? (only the team knows)
    Goal #2: Win Games
    Goal #3: Improve the Team
    Goal #4: Improve Individual Players

Hakeem did not get touches because, sorry, but he just wasn't any good any more. Yao is talented but learning a lot right now. He'll get better and more reliable. Give him and the team some breathing room.

I wish everyone would just relax. I'm encouraged by what I'm seeing. Let the stew simmer and the wine ferment. The Rockets are nurturing Yao Ming along and there is no need to rush and put pressure on the guy. He's got a lot to adjust to and learn. He also has a lot that he brings to the table. "It takes time to bring excellence to maturity."

This isn't the Yao Ming show where he can shoot whenever he damn well feels like it. It's the Cat and Steve show. :p

If we're beyond lottery contention (a BIG IF), then I'd agree to help develop our rookies. But there's no pressure on them now since we're playing to WIN, and not in developing mode.

Mobley jacking up shots is getting him 21 ppg and the Rockets are 4-2. I wouldn't mind Ming getting 21 ppg.

    RM,

I'm not saying that Mobley is shooting bad. And I'm not saying that
Yao couldn't get a higher PPG if he had more shots.

But, I think that there are more important things of his game that Rudy
needs to work with him (Yao) on, rather than just shooting a lot.

All I wanted was more minutes for Yao (partly due to Yao), rather than
    shot attempts.

    *sigh*

I guess we'll have to wait for a Rocket blowout to see Yao light up some poor backup C
