This is from an interview with Yao Anhong, Yao's friend who works for the Rockets.

He says that the biggest problem for the Rockets is in the backcourt and it's hard to fire JVG because there is no better coaches available right now.

The interesting thing he mentions about Yao this season is that Yao felt stronger and better conditined. At the beginning of the season, he was even playing like Shaq, going aggressive inside the paint. However, Yao was scolded by JVG for being overly aggressive and was informed to play more using skills.

Now Yao is confused because it's JVG who called him 'soft' and now is saying that he is 'too aggressive'. What should he do?

It's really hard to " appreciate JVG" when you see things like this. if true, the rockets better sack his bald ass ASAP.

    What is JVG thinking?
It's hard enough for Yao to decide what to do since the refs are always quick to call the weakest fouls against him and now JVG is messing with his head.

The last sentense about Yao being confused etc was not a direct quote. Too much interpretation from the "interviewer". I just re-read the whole thing again, actually, everything was from this guy, none was from Yao. It wasn't an interview, he said nobody can find Yao now, unless Yao wanted to talk to you. Then the rest was about his "feelings" regarding Yao's game and the Rockets.

Just like a post on this bbs, nothing less, nothing more.

JVG does not know what to do with a player of Yao's skills.

He should use him more at the top of the key with baseline cutters.....

Ala Brad Miller or Arvidas Sabonis.

Well, although it was not the direct quote from Yao, I believe him in saying that Yao was critized by JVG for being overly 'aggressive' or 'tough'. After all, this is a guy who is actually close to the Rockets and has seat next to Rudy T. for home games.

JVG critisized him for getting the offensive fouls. Neither Yao nor JVG said Yao was bashed for being "aggressive". It was not a quote from JVG, nor from Yao. Rudy T didn't sit on the bench, and that Yao Anhong couldn't hear the real verbal exchange if he sat beside Rudy.

I remember that one time after Yao collected an offensive foul, JVG called him to the sideline and I can tell from reading JVG's lips that he yelled at Yao "don't do that", and Yao looked totally confused with the expression "what did I do?" I thought that call was BS and I didn't understand what JVG was upset with.

I remember that call, it was clearly a foul. Yao reached in to steal the ball from a quicker and smaller guard. JVG was telling him "don't do that", that is to reach in. It was not an offensive foul.

Well, there has to be some truth in what Andy Yao Anhong said.

He is a close friend of Yao Ming in Houston (The one in blue shirt next to Colin Pine. The other Chinese guy in the photo is Yang Yi, a sports writer in China, and another buddy of Yao Ming) . He used to be host on Houston Radio/Rockets.com for a special program: An Hour with Yao Ming.

That was not the call. Yao leaned foward for a short jumper and was called offensive foul. That is BS. Shaq and TD do it all the time and they often get "and 1".

I don't know what they have taught Yao. They all say that they want Yao to operate colser to the basket, and they all know defenders can strip him often if he put the ball on floor.

He might be a friend of Yao Ming, or even a very close one or best friend ever. That little note ot article or report was an interview with that guy, not Yao. So everything he said, was his thought, feelings or interpretation of certain situation, because he didn't say that anything was from Yao Ming, although the note strongly implied so.
