I am not exactly sure, but I remember Hakeem saying(in a book i think) that his good footwork was due to all his younger days of playing soccer. He said that was one of the biggest impacts on his low post footwork. Im sure we all agree that Yao needs to improve on this part of the game. If he got better footwork and speed, he would be unstoppable. So this might sound kinda stupid, but why not during practice give him a soccer ball to play with. Or have someone that knows how to play soccer, practice with him sometimes. If this really does have that kind of impact, then it wouldnt hurt to try. Also if i am wrong about the what i said about hakeem then just ignore this, but i am pretty sure that he did say this.
I remember that about Hakeem too. But, I think Hakeem played a whole whole lot of soccer as a kid. I'm not sure how much benefit a little dabbling would provide.
Naw, I remember Hakeem saying something like that about his footwork and soccer. He said his dream shake was some sort of soccer move.
Well i mean a couple or maybe even a few hours a week. Running with the soccer ball improves your footwork alot. I know in high school i used to run, and then started running with a soccer ball and my handles with a soccer ball got alot better.
Yao's footwork isn't what concerns me the most about him. I'm starting to feel like the problem is a word that starts with an "s" and ends with an "oft."
