Mingming Sun, another Chinese with "Ming" inside his name has joined the ABA. And he is nearly 10cm higher than Yao...
imagine if we got him as Yao's bench...

This has nothing to do with the Houston Rockets. No connection what so ever besides the fact that he's the same race as our Center and has "Ming" in his name.

And not only that, but he's playing in some crap d-league. (If he is playing at all). Here we have the best back up center in the league in Deke, and some guy wants Sun Ming Ming because he's 7'9 and Chinese. Silly.

Instead of Yao II, shouldn't it read Ming II (Yao Jr/Ming Ming)

Sun Ming Ming is the one who really has gigantism, not Yao. He currently did surgery on this (in L.A.?) He can not compare to Yao, he didn't gain any fundamental basketball training till he was like 16 or so. Yao is from a true basketball family, exposed to this sport ever since he was born.

Except being tall and a chinese, there is nothing special about Sun Ming Ming. He never played basketball in CBA (Chinese Basketball League), and he is not even close to be in Chinese national team. In particular, he has nothing to do with our lovely Yao Ming and our houston rockets.

Come on, except being tall, he is a true professional basketball player. The team signed him probably just wants to use him to sell more tickets, because he is rarely tall. I truely feel bad about it.

This guy is not good. Plain and simple. His speed and conditioning would never let him play more than about 15 minutes in the NBA. Just look at the video...he makes Yao look like Carl Lewis. He also has poor fundamentals. For example, he posts up on the right block, turns toward the baseline, and instead of laying the ball in with his left hand (away from defenders) he lays it in with is right hand. Despite being 7'8" he would get that blocked 9 times out of 10.

    Give me Wang Zhizhi instead.

I just watched that youtube video.

    Wow.

I am not even sure he can dunk.

They played his moves in fast forward to make him look not as slow.

I almost feel bad for him seeing him try to run up and down the court.

I saw an ESPN special about him, he can't stay on the court long enough to be a factor in the NBA. With his size he'll always have heart problems, and because of that, I don't know how well he could make it.

Of course, I'd love to have the Ming Towers at PF and C.

He looks bad against Jimmie Kimmel. What would look like in the NBA?

Watching that youtube made me think of ...

Guy doesn't have anything close to Yao's mobility and would get destroyed in the NBA

I noticed that too. To be honest, i think, for him, playing professional basketball equals committing suicide. My friend in medical school says Sun is a typical case of gigantism and he also indentified signs of marfan's syndrome from the video.
