I'm sick and tired of all this Yao Ming a$$ kissing and how this site has become his fan club. Anytime somebody starts a post criticizing Ming the fan club has to come in and repeat the same old sh*t and try to shoot it down. So for all the people that are anti-Yao, please voice your opinion here. Let's hear some reasons not to draft this 7 foot bust. If your with the fan club, go pleasure yourself with his highlight film with his rejections and dunks on 5 feet nothing chinese players.

well , he rejected Carter twice. WE don't know if he's gonna be a bust. I'm not a hater of anyone, but I'm not sure if he's the answer.

Dude, this is only your 13th post, and I've only seen 4 of them, and all 4 make or defend derogatory references to Chinese players.

Your hatred is starting to smell like it's about more than Yao.

    Why do you hate Yao?

You've been extremely clear about your dislike for him, yet I have yet to see you explain why.

I would like to see your reasoning behind the dislike of Yao, after all, if I do not see your reasoning, how can we have a discussion on his merits?

Won’t it be funny if Yao Ming turns out to be the most hype player ever and we found that out the night of the draft.

I'm not convinced Yao is the answer, but I definitely think people who think he's Bradley are way off base. I think Smits (minus some post moves) but with better rebounding is a worst case scenario for Ming with the potential to be Walton like (18 ppg and 11 or 12 rpg). Is a Smits type player with better rebounding good enough to go #1? I guess that's the question. Plus it may take him a year or so to get to that level, so he may be like Bradley for a year but defintely won't wind up like him barring injuries.

I'm open to any trade, especially one that gets us KG. I'm also very interested in Tsika out of the draft. The problem is to get KG we'd have to give up a ton which I wouldn't mind doing if it weren't for the fact that we already have some depth issues. Getting Tsika would involve a trade down and I question how good a veteran we can get in that type of trade. I like Odom but I don't see a deal working out between us and LA that appeals to both of us. Had we wound up with the 3rd pick or so then I think an Odom deal would be more likely, but there is hopefully something better for the #1. Maybe I would do the #1 #15 for Odom, the #8 and #12 if we can get Tsika AND Hilario at those picks but both those guys seem destined for top 10 picks. That trade is the only one that interests me right now (other than KG, but KG has so many parameters there's no way for me to see who would be involved realistically).

You're trying to call me a racist now after calling me a punk. I include that the players that Yao plays against are Chinese because there has never been a Chinese player with NBA talent other than the fact that he is tall. I think it's fair to say that at this point in time the level of play in China is far superior to the US. If you go back and look, you'll see that I did not defend any derogatory reference to Chinese people. There was an innocent comment made that, for the sake of political correctness, got turned into a witchhunt. I simply stated how ridiculous it was. Damn, that would make you wrong, wrong, and wrong again. Try to think before you speak next time, or just don't speak.

Why would Ming not be a good pick at #1? As a center he seems to fit the Rockets system perfectly. This Rockets team is not a post up team. Not anymore. Its a running team. Ming would be ideal for this team.

    kubli,

Well, it doesn't look like we'll get to have that conversation.

Taking a confrontation attitude with an admin, expecially when you're incorrect is, quite frankly not smart.

    P.S.
Tell me about Nigeria's storied basketball history.

    Or Germanys.

Judge the player - using ignorant stereotypes to bash a player just makes you look like a fool.

You've referred several times now (including the post at the top of this thread) to "5 feet nothing chinese players." Please cite some examples.

I've never said I hated Yao, I am just adamant in the Rockets not picking him. Why is this? He's 7'5" but doesn't play big, and he can't play big because he doesn't have the upper body strength. I've read numerous stories on how he's been dominated by other centers in the CBA, especially Wang Zhizhi, and we all know what he's done. Hearing this and knowing that the level of play in China is well below that of the US, I honestly believe a large number of US high schoolers could go over there and dominate that league. He has a nice shot, I'll give him that, but his post game will amount to nothing when he has to go against the stronger centers in the NBA. Mark Cuban made an interesting statement on the Dan Patrick radio show on how players that tall have their centers of gravity in a vulnerable place. He was asked if he had the first pick would he want to draft him, his words, "HELL NO" based on his experience with the Chinese and Wang Zhizhi. I've seen his highlights, I don't feel this way based on racism as one person on this board would like to say, I'm just not impressed by his play or the baggage involved with him and the Chinese.

Huh?? Are you trying to be cute here, i.e. sarcastic?

And dude you completely missed the boat in that other thread. We had a Chinese poster say that term WAS offensive to them. Why can you not understand that?? Do you think he's just making that up?? Using a condescending excuse like "we're being too PC" makes you sound like a punk which is why Will called you that.

Will is one of the best posters and most fair people here. But I agree with what Pued said. Something tells me that you won't get the chance to learn from him.

    1) The Mavs have additional problems with Wang Zhi Zhi because he is a Colonel in the Red Army. Yao Ming does not have this same obligation.

    2) I consider part of what Cuban says regarding Yao's abilities as sour grapes.

    3) If center of gravity is TRULY an issue, maybe the Mavs need to move Nash or Finley into the pivot.

    4) I am pro-Ming based upon what I perceive to be the odds. Yes, it is possible for him to be a bust. It is also a possibility for him to be an All Star in his 3rd season (no Robinson, high-mileage Shaq at 34 yoa).

The most statistical likelihood is that Yao is Rik Smits with better range, better passing, and way more hunger to succeed. I'll take that anytime.

By the way... Sabonis must have had center-of-gravity problems, too. He was 7'3" and 292#'s.
