Yao started the season playing strong, with more aggression than ever. Starting with the Dallas game he has turned into a complete push over. I haven't seen him fight for a rebound once during the Toronto game. I don't know if he is sick or what. If he continues to play like the stay puft marshmallow man out there we don't have a chance this season. The only time he has been getting boards has been simply because he was playing center and a lot of balls bounce to the post player. I want to see him jumping at the balls knocking other players down. The refs are raping him, which might be making him squeemish. If only we could lock him in a room with Kellen Winslow jr. for a week or something. Yao has got to play stronger. Right now his size is becoming a disadvantage because he isn't using it, he is just letting it slow him down.
You need to read the sticky about changing forum rules. http://bbs.clutchcity.net/php3/showthread.php?s=&threadid=68400
How is this thread breaking the forum rules? Just because he puts down Yao? He makes a good point that Yao has not been agressive lately and that is costing him and the Rockets many points
The new rules were put in place cause after everygame there's 10 threads bashing Yao. If I were to start a thread saying Steve King Bricklayer!, that'd get locked and closed.
I don't think it is breaking rules. I think it just seems like I am hating on Yao because of the recent loss. But I actually started the thread before we lost and I had been mulling it over for the last three games so it really wasn't a fume post or anything. I am just tired of seeing Yao play like that.
I agree.. Maybe Yao was tired today. But I wish he would be more aggressive. He could have gotten lots of rebounds...if he remains aggressive the entire game..well he did have 5 fouls. He is kinda slow to react too..Maybe Yao's too weak or something.
The thing is.... I have seen him play with aggression, when he does he is as dominant as they come. Then all of a sudden he disappears. Some here like to blame it on Cat or Steve taking too many shots or the coach not getting it into his hands. I think the biggest thing against Yao right now is the refs. They are dismantling him. But he has to over come that by sticking to his guns and playing hard. If JVG has to play him less minutes to make his playing time more quality then do it. But I can't watch him being taking over a Chris Bosh, or Toine or anyone else for that matter. It just looks sad.
Yao had 20 points 12 boards today, yet barely touched the ball in the 4th and double OT. This was an easy win for the rox if francis didn't ball hog and jack up bricks and even the raps play by play guys knew it. via fan950 radio station Canada: Thank God they aren't passing into Yao!
Dont bash anymore players like I did or else everyone will jump down your throat. The rockets are the best team in the league right now. So is Cato . Cato is the most improved player and Ming is AWSOME.
Granted, Yao should've had the ball more. Yao needs to demand the ball more, he needs to stop waddling between the baskets and start aggressively getting into postition. Half the time I don't think he has any idea what play is being run. Communication trouble no doubt, but they need to work that out. 20 and 12 is easy for Yao. I want no less than 25 and 14 a night from this monster. Yao should be a superstar, not an all star sub. Last year he was a rookie. This year he needs to shine.
You need thicker skin. The Rockets are playing well. Cato is doing great. Ming is awesome. But there is much room for improvement, and that doesn't mean a trade.
You do know that I can count on one hand the number of players who averaged 20/10 last year right? You say this now, but even if Yao goes 25/14, you'll just say I want 30/18. No pleasing guys like you, you just look for reasons to cut Yao down. Now it goes both ways, since with myself being a Yao only fan (and rox fan as a by product of that) as I look at the positives.
I feel the same way about his rebounding. But, unfortunately, I am not able to see the games this year and I have only seen the Dallas game so I can't tell why a highly skilled 7'6" 300+ pound center is having trouble averaging over ten rebounds a game. In particular, why he only got 12 rebounds in a game that ran through double overtime.
Yeah, you are also completely insecure about your player and you need to freaking read before you accuse someone of "cutting down" Yao. I am a huge Yao fan. I want him to adjust his playing style to play more effectively, giving him more touches, more stats, more impact in the game. And somehow you want to turn that into me trying to cut him down. People like you are why clutch had to start his new rules thread. You come in here without an open mind and all you want to do is shove Yao down peoples throats and bash every other player.
One thing that really concerns me is how often Yao's been resorting to his fadeaway, which is his worst shot. At the beginning of each game, I see the same thing from him; a brick over... and over... and over. He needs to set the tone early and take it to the basket. Aggression doesn't mean rushing a shot up there, it's taking the ball to the basket. As for his rebounding, I just don't think he has very good hands. He's been fumbling a lot of catches and rebounds. I'm not really sure that that's something that can be changed.
Yao has great hands for a big man. Anyone who knows anything about basketball can see that. He can rebound. He has shown it. It is all about confidence and execution. He is not playing with brass balls.
No need for that. When Yao is ready, they will pass him the ball. Since he is not ready yet, we have to rely on our guards. It's not all bad. Steve and Cuttino alone can practically make a .500 ballclub.
Please no more stupid talk of trading our all star backcourt. We have a great set of players. We need to turn our attention to chemistry and strategy.
