Yao is #7 in Free Throws Attempted with 129. #8 and #9 are both only 1 behind him but #10 Carmelo has 9 less than Yao. Refs giving Yao some love or what? I have only seen a few Rox games because I dont live in Houston so I really dont know if Yao should have attempted more or not
With out a doubt Yao should be attempting more. Just as an examplel, last night Yao had the ball in the paint and went up to shoot his fade away when Elden Cambel slapped Yao so hard on his forarm that Yao Ming had to pull back his shot attempt. Just for good measure Elden then hit Yao's forarm again with his other hand. Yao made took and made the shot anyway but Elden comitted the foul not once but twice in perfect view of everyone and no foul was called. This is the story of Yao Ming's NBA career.
That is the story of every star players career. But the good news is that once he starts to play through those, he will be the benefit of doubt after a while.
he should be getting more if all things were fair...but they arent. He gets hacked constantly...but if the refs called every foul, the opposing teams would totally foul out. He just needs to get used to it, and learn how to play thru it...cause it aint getting any better any time soon. thats the NBA folks.
No ! In the Games where he is aggressivly guarded by multiple players or two powerful players taking turns he to push and shove he is fould at least fifty times a Game.In these Games the Refs call about 10%.
Yao said he's aiming for 30 rebounds in one game someday. Thought I doubt if that means very much to those Yao-doubters...
Hello silvercatt....I wold like to intrroduce you to my friend.....SARCASM!!!! Smeg is the biggest fan of Cat you will ever find.. Gotta sarcasm detector I can sell ya...you interested?? olliez....you mean in the same way that the assists Francis got will mean very litttle to the SF doubters?
JJ hitting and MoT back give SF at least 4 more assists a game. He wasn't able to spread the offense and dish as well with only Cato/Braggs/Ford. With Pike back too, there is a lot more opportunity to assist. To his credit he sees that and is giving it up more...
I realise that I was exaggerating to make my point. The elbowing is not the Yao Way of doing things. I hope that the NBA Refs Assoc will notice the many non-calls and correct their Refs. possibly after the Rox. complain with a tape showing it going on.Till thern Yao Ming will just have to grin and bear it.
Rocket2K if I knew Smeg is a Cat fan I would had known that hes being sarcastic. Anyway w/ so much senseless hatings and bashings toward the Rocket players spreading through out this board. It's hard to see people's sarcasm nowadays. I found your posts pretty annoying sometime. So you found Smeg's sarcasm and you acted like you have just discovered something that could solve world peace. Can you make other feel little appreciative about posts. Or that's just simply too hard for you to do becuase it's beyond your nature?
Yao definitely does not get enough calls, but I think things will get better. I would be willing to bet that he's one of the most fouled players in the league. Almost anytime he's battling for position down low the opposition is going to do something that could be called a foul. What else can you do when you're trying to keep a 7'6" guy that ways over 300 lbs. out of the paint?
Maybe if they called every foul then opposing teams would stop fouling him. Agree that they'll never call of them or even most of them any time soon though.
Complaining about Yaogetting fouled and not being called? Say that to the Laker fans. We have seen lots of them on Shaq not being called. When a player is bigger and stronger than the rest of the guys on the court, it bewcomes a really hard job to be a referee ...
I don't think Yao and Shaq have too much to complain about. I calculated how many FT attempts players per FG attempt to get a rough idea of how often they get calls in relation to their role in the offense (their style I assume would play a large role, with low-post and slashing players getting more FTs than jump-shooters on a per-shot basis. I took the list of top 50 scorers. Top Ten? 1 S. O'Neal, LAL 0.66 2 C. Maggette, LAC 0.65 3 Kobe Bryant, LAL 0.56 4 Yao Ming, HOU 0.55 5 Andre Miller, DEN 0.51 6 C. Billups, DET 0.50 7 Pau Gasol, MEM 0.50 8 Z. Ilgauskas, CLE 0.49 9 Tim Duncan, SAS 0.49 10 A. Kirilenko, UTH 0.46 Other notables: 13 Brad Miller, SAC 0.41 14 Allen Iverson, PHI 0.41 18 Steve Francis, HOU 0.35 25 Jason Kidd, NJN 0.31 31 S. Marbury, PHO 0.28 35 C. Mobley, HOU 0.25 37 Baron Davis, NOR 0.24 50 A. Walker, DAL 0.16 As you can see, there is a definite LA-bias with the top-3 being all LA players. Francis is up there, but not as high as I think he should be with the beatings he takes. And, even though Iverson is making news with all the FTs he takes, I think he's probably right that he should be taking more. I don't know how Andre Miller got so high on the list, though that could explain Denver's record.
