I don't know if this has been discussed before, but why not make Yao come off the bench instead of starting him like what the Spurs did with Manu Ginobli a couple of years ago. Dallas also did it with Jason Terry (I can't remember what season), letting him come off the bench when he was a better player than the starter at his position (before they got Marion and Butler). Since Rick Adelman doesn't know how to manage Yao Ming's time just have him come off the bench for bench scoring, let him finish off games, and let him become the elusive finisher again that we need so much.

    Just Saying.......

they aren't going to give the 6th man OTY award to someone who doesn't even play close to every game.

It's been discussed before and still don't understand the reluctance by Adelman/Morey. So many benefits from doing it that it just makes to much sense I guess.

Yao doesn't need to come off the bench. If he is going to play 24 minutes a game, then why not start the guy?

The bench is meant to relieve the starters and / or change the momentum of the game. Lowry / Lee / Budinger / Hill / Miller play in a different style than our starting 5.

Lowry and Lee don't really have an outside shot; they can cut well though, and Miller is a better passer than Yao is right now, so Miller fits into the second group better than Yao.

Yao in the starting 5 makes more sense, because an inside-outside game with Martin and Brooks is deadly.

I agree. While we have to regulate his minutes then we mine as well keep him within the flow of the rotation. 24mpg for a bench player is perfect.

Yes it is more deadly to pair Yao with Brooks/Martin, but our offense is predictable enough when Yao is on the court that Brooks & Martin do not get enough plays ran for them.

With Yao out of the lineup, it gives Brooks and Martin a chance to get their offense going and when Yao comes in they can pound it down to him. Yao will still be able to play with Brooks/Martin, while also pairing with Lowry/Lee/Bud which could be just as effective with their cuts and Yao's passing.

We just need to get the rotation flowing smoother and we will be fine. We have plenty of offense in the starting lineup with Brooks/Martin/Scola and we need to be more defensive minded. Start Hill and I guarantee you we will have no problem scoring the basketball with our 2nd unit if Yao is part of it.
