Yao bashing threads make me wonder what the treads would be like when Hakeem Olajuwon was in his third season in the NBA. I'm sure people would be screaming for the Rockets to get rid of him. He can't play a well balanced game, ect ect ect. To compare AK to Yao after the first week of the NBA is silly. The Rockets have a good thing going with Yao and McGrady. Remember its an 84 game season.
LOL. That, and I don't think anyone was bashing Dream in his 3rd season...he and sampson got us into the NBA finals the season before where we lost to argueable one of the best teams in the history of the NBA.(Yes a Waltonism with Walton on the team ).
I imagine the train wreck Dream haters would have been at their APEX in 1990-1991 (when Cheney was coach and Dream was demanding a trade)
I'm not a Yao basher, but comparing him to Olajuwon just isn't even close. Olajuwon's rookie year is still more impressive than Yao right now. That's not a bash - it's the truth. One day, Chicago will have another young SG all-star. Comparisons to MJ will happen, but that doesn't mean they're appropriate. Evan
This is ClutchFans forum. Of course, there are plenty of ppl who bash our star players on a regular basis. They were here before, they are here now, and they will never go away. take that from me, learn to deal with it. Don't come to this board after a loss, it's nasty here.
people? One person started that thread, why not just reply to that poster in the thread you are refering to?
No, this season is 84 - at least for the Rockets. JVG technically made it that way by saying that he considered the final 2 preseason games as regular season battles. Therefore, we are 2-4 now by his count and 2-2 by NBA's count.
fortuantely I was getting ready to start college (in another city) so I wasn't able to follow the debacle on sports radio or in the local papers ... but that is all they talked about in '93 when the team started to turn the corner... (the deal that never was)
You don't really believe that do you? If that were true, Yao Ming would have played in the last preseason game against Denver.
Hakeem got HAMMERED by the fans when he "faked" his injury. He was almost traded for Rony Siekely once and for Danny Manning.
Yeah Seikaly was damn good at that time. He was up and coming, very mobile for a big man. Decent jumper, decent post game, good rebounding. He just never continued his rise like everyone expected. But a good player still. The only *more* underrated center of that era...Brad Daugherty. Incredible player/passer, career hampered by injuries.
